If you have been around with me from the beginning, you know that my style has changed dramatically since the start of this blog – and I mean dramatically. It evolved from something more rustic and a touch Pottery Barn-ish to not-a-distressed-piece-in-sight, bold and unapologetic.
And I really love the latter.
It took a while, but I figured out what is truly my style. I don’t think I could even put a definite name on it and I’m ok with that. It’s bold, sometimes random, always fun, usually full of memories and as I said – unapologetic. I won’t apologize for not sticking to the “decorating rules” by mixing cowboys hats with a gold confetti wall or decorating with a styrofoam mohawk sucker holder I made.
For this spring home tour round, since we are moving soon, I don’t really have any new stuff to show you, so I thought it would be fun to see the evolution of the spaces in my home. I won’t go all the way back with photos of when we first got the Beloved Foreclosure (you can click through on the links to see those), but you will see the “finished spaces” – as they’ve been “finished” multiple times.
As always, thanks to the wonderful Marty from A Stroll Thru Life who puts together these home tours just about every season. She’s a sweetheart and has a wonderful style all her own. Be sure to check out her home tour along with others at the end of this post.

Love you style before and now. Always something fun fresh and inspiring. I especially love how you give your walls so much interest with pattern. I creates such amazing spaces. Thanks so much for a fabulous and inspiring tour.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Marty! Ya know, I just can’t see to get enough accent walls!

How fun! A brass unicorn and a gnome, love it!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Julia. Randomness at its finest. 🙂
Laura Ingalls Gunn says
Your green drapes are just smashing and I find myself needing a brass unicorn.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Laura. Personally, I don’t know why anyone would want to go through life without a brass unicorn. 😉
Dharma says
Bless your family’s heart. LOL I think you and I may have been seperated at birth by like 3000 miles and 10 years… I dig your style girl, it is very much my cup o’ tea. Fun watching the progression. That living room. I died.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
haha! I know right, bless their hearts! Thanks, Dharma!
Patty says
I think most people are constantly evolving and changing. I can’t tell you how many times my style has changed and I find it is changing yet again, but when you think about it how boring would we be if we didn’t change a little.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
So true, Patty! It would be so boring!!
Anne Coles says
Pretty COOL! Why are you moving? I like what you’ve got!!!!!!!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Oh Anne, I love what we have too! Long story short – my in-laws are moving into our current house (the one in this tour) and we are moving into another house in the same neighborhood. We were looking for a house for them and couldn’t find one for them, but found one for us. Crazy!
Arielle says
I love your style evolution! Your home is beautiful. I know it took me a while to figure out my personal style – there are so many styles I appreciate and love when I see them in others’ homes, but they don’t all work for me. Realizing that has helped me feel more confident and comfortable about decorating my own home. Also, knowing that my style will probably evolve with time has let me off the hook worrying too much about trying to have a “timeless” style. Much more fun this way!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
I totally know what you mean, Arielle!! I look at some rooms in magazines and I’m like, wow, that’s gorgeous, but not me at all!!!
Toni says
So very glad to know I am not the only one who has spent money, time and hard work on a room, only to redo it! My shortest “flip” was three months. My dear, understanding, love of my life better half just shook his head – after telling me it was “my” project.
I love the second version of your guest room. From the dark wall, DIY bookshelf and that awesome vinyl holder. Spot on! The cane inspired bathroom, the dining room wall, the buffet makeover – list goes on and on. You have a new fan! Thanks for sharing your lovely home and for making me feel less “freakish”.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Hi Toni!! I’m so glad you popped over! Thank you! Oh yes, there have been multiple times I’ve redone a room and it was a total fail or I realized I was trying to decorate it in some way that totally wasn’t me! It’s all part of the ride!
Megan says
By far my favorite room tour and house! Like be the colors, mix of patterns, and personality everywhere. As pretty as the other houses are, I can’t jump on the all white or beige stuff. I need color and contrast like your house. Love the evolution series.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Oh thank you, Megan! I’m a fan of a white wall, but I need some color or bold black pieces popping off of it! And beige is totally not my cup of tea!
Alicia @ thrifty and chic says
It’s amazing how your style has evolved! Your dining room is just frickin stunning. And I’m completely jealous of your bold use of pattern. If I could only have 10% of your attitude toward design I would be happy ????
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Alicia! It’s one of my favorite spaces too!
Summer says
Your tours are always so fun Jenna! I especially love the kitchen transformation! You’ve done an amazing job! Happy Tuesday!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Summer! I’m pretty in love with my kitchen. 🙂
