This project will fall into the category with the snake bowl and the snake vase for many of you.

That’s the category classified as:

Things Jenna Loves & Most People Hate

That’s perfectly fine.

Me, my snake bowl, snake vase, and the newest addition to the category, the mohawk lollipop holder will be perfectly happy together.

The Jonathan Adler version will cost you $98. This version will cost you $10. Mohawk Lollipop Holder - A Jonathan Adler Knock-Off

That’s right. A punk rocker lollipop holder.

How much more fun could it get?

I was perusing Jonathan Adler’s newest items a while back, plotting out which items I would buy when I hit the lottery (all of them) and I happened upon this little jewel.

The Jonathan Adler Mohawk Lollipop Holder

This is actually one of his more affordable items – its $98.

However, I couldn’t bring myself to shell out $98 for a lollipop holder.

So I made my own.

For $10.

DIY Jonathan Adler Inspired Mohawk Lollipop Holder

Materials & Tools Needed:

DIY Mohawk Lollipop Holder - A Jonathan Adler Knock-Off

  • Styrofoam Head (Mine came from Hobby Lobby. Use a 40% off coupon to get it for $5.)
  • Round Styrofoam Disc (Mine came from Hobby Lobby. It was $2.)
  • Metal Studs (Mine came from Michael’s. They were $3)
  • Pencil
  • X-Acto Knife
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Toothpicks

Steps

Step 1.

Place the styrofoam head on top of the styrofoam disc and do an outline around the top of the head with your pencil. See #1 in the photo below. This will be your mohawk. After you have made your outline, cut out the mohawk slowly with an X-Acto knife.

Step 2:

Place about five toothpicks in the center top of the head, spread out a little shorter than the mohawk.  See #2 in the photo above.

Step 3:

Push the mohawk down on top of the toothpicks. Push it slowly, so that it doesn’t break.

Step 4:

Run a line of hot glue quickly along each side of the mohawk, then push the mohawk down and firmly into place with your hand. Hold it down until the glue is dry. See #4 in the photo above.

Step 5:

Hot glue the studs around the base of the head.

Step 6:

Push your lollipops into the mohawk.

I realize mine does not look as good as his, but for $10, I’ll take it.

Wouldn’t this be so fun and quirky to have out at a party?

Is there a mohawk lollipop holder in your future?

I think there should be, but I won’t judge you if there isn’t. 🙂
