I have a question, not a comment: I am a newbie amateur home decorator, LOVE buying things used, on Craigslist, or at Dollar tree or thrift stores, and love the ideas I read here. I have a 5 yr old who loves maps and globes, thats sort of the theme of his room. We have an old globe from hubby’s childhood that no longer stands on its frame/stand, and I’m wondering if I can cut it in half( along the equator line) -its cardboard, and not fixable as a globe-butI’d love to figure out a way to make the globe, or half of it, as a lam or lampshade- either standing or hanging. I could attempt this myself or give it to my friend who is also a handyman( that’s his full-time job-he’s self-employed. ideas?

just realized that I don’t want to create a fire hazard, so I’d have to put the globe into an existing round lampshade or treat the inside of it with something, since it wasn’t made to be exposed to hest.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Right! I don’t know of anything you could treat it with, but if you could find a smaller lampshade it would fit onto, that may work!

This sounds like a great idea, Polly! I saw half of a globe turned into a hanging fixture somewhere before, but I’m not quite sure where. I’m thinking you could search on pinterest and find something there?

I believe I saw that Globe light at Rust & Elm in Cincinnati …

I have a question, where do you list your projects to sell? I would like to see them and maybe buy some.
great job your doing.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Hi Dana! Right now, I don’t have any projects that I’m selling. Sometimes, I do have furniture pieces. Was there something specific you were looking for?

hi Jenna. I am brand new to your site…..lucky me! Have you posted how you painted your kitchen cabinets? I saw your kitchen in BH&G and want to do the same to mine.
Thanks,
Angie

Hey Angie! I’m thrilled you found me! I have not posted exactly how I painted the cabinets. We actually started that process before the blog was around. However, I’m planning a post on exactly that in December because so many people have asked! I hope that helps – just stick with me for a few weeks!

Love your home, thanks for sharing. What color is your living room ? I’m doing a 1890 restoration and painted a room”muslin” and it is so wrong.looks different on every wall. I’d really appreciate you sharing your color.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Hey Rachele – so, my living room has underwent a couple of paint color changes since I’ve had this blog. First it was antique white (or maybe beige), then it was Repose Gray and now its just pure white. Let me know what picture / post you are looking at and I can tell you what color it was!

Jenna, I really enjoy your website, but I can’t stand all the ads, especially the pop up ones at the bottom of every photo and the bottom of the screen. It slows down the load time for EVERY page so it takes like 3 minutes for every page to load. It gets really old really fast and it makes me want to just leave, but I really don’t want to. Would you consider lightening up on the ads? Thanks!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Hi Loni! I’m sorry for this inconvenience. Both of those ads should have either “x’s” or down arrows in the corners that will remove them when you are browsing.

I have been all through the website and was wondering if there are any ideas on how to make something out of ribbons with rosettes and ribbons my dogs and I have won at a Barn Hunt trials. Have a lot of ribbons.
Can you suggest anything or someone who has made anything with them.
Thanks.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Hi Charlotte! This is actually something I’ve been brainstorming on as well! I have quite a few award ribbons myself and would love to figure out a clever way to decorate with them! I’ve still got my thinking cap on!
