This is great! I’ve seen so many of these in stores and catalogs and they are pricey. I love that you were able to make your own!
Vidya @ Whats Ur Home Story says
That is such a wonderful idea. Now I know what to do with the large wine bottle I would at a store in Va beach. Thank you for sharing. So the wire for the lamp does it go on the outside. I don’t recall reading about drilling a hole. Pining this to my to do list.
Jenna LaFevor says
Vidya, thanks for stopping by! This is super easy to do! Yes, the wire stays on the outside. It just hangs down form the back. Once you buy the kit, you will see.

Pennies work too! haha! It really is sooo easy! I’ve done it like 100 times now. Well, really like 10, but ya get the idea!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says

KIM says
yes it is very cool but I’d like to know how you got the holes in the bottle for the cord etc.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Hi Kim! I didn’t have to make any holes in the bottle – I used the opening at the top that was already there.
Charlotte says
Great job! I would really like to know how you fastened the *item I don’t have the English word for but is where one puts the bulb* to the bottle neck.
Best regards, Charlotte
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Hi Charlotte! There is a rubber stopper type thing (for lack of better word) that you just pop into the bottle neck. You have to squeeze it in. I did add a ring of super glue around mine once it was in the bottle. Hope that helps!
Patty Blake says
Did you drill a hole in the bottle for the lamp cord?
Jenna says
No, the cord comes out the top.
Renee says
This lamp is fantastic!!! You do make it look very easy. I think the only thing I would do different with the wire inside the lamp, would be to wrap it in sisal. The shade looks “burlappy”….if that is a word….and the sisal would be a good compliment to the shade.
Jenna says
Wrapping that in sisal is a great idea, Renee!
