I’m not going to lie. It felt so good last month to tell the entire internet I hate shiplap.
It felt even better when some of you agreed with me that it’s being way too overused. Just stop already, Joanna. I’m not hatin’, but enough is enough.
Needless to say, this second round of Fearless Homes doesn’t contain an ounce of shiplap.
No, no, no.
This post contains design that’s bold and unforgiving. It nods to the past while staying true to the designer’s personality.
Why yes, I did just make up that line all on my own. I surprise myself sometimes, y’all.
It sometimes pushes the limit.
It can make you smile. It can make you laugh. It can make your mouth drop open. It might even make you mad or frown in disgust.
But never ever ever will it ask for forgiveness.
Or change with the trends.
Because these homes my friends, are fearless – just like the ladies behind them.
Here are some of my favorites from the #FearlessHome feed on Instagram. First up is this dark, yet tropical living room from Carnival of Colour.
Obviously, this space won my heart for many reasons including the black and green palm wallpaper paired with the velvet lilac sofa. It’s a daring, unexpected mix and I love it. See more of the space here and follow Carnival of Colour on Instagram here.
And going in the opposite direction from dark and tropical is this girl’s room from Maggie Overby Studios.
That typewriter art is perfection. I love the use of aqua and coral in this space. Just like Maggie says, “It’s a girl’s room fit for a teen.” See more of the space here and follow Maggie on Instagram here.
Next up, a little love from our pink, sometimes white, feathered friends…
Leigh Anne from Houseologie stenciled her bathroom with white and gold flamingos. And they are on a black wall, which we all know I can’t get enough of. I love the contrast of these and the fun they lend to a bathroom. See more of the project here and follow Houseologie on Instagram here.
And then there’s the man in black..
Seeing as how my love of country music runs deep, I couldn’t not include this room from Nichol Naranjo. Johnny Cash. check. Guitar. check. Black and burl wood. check. See more of Nichol’s home here and follow her on Instagram here.
And finally there’s the icebox in the bathroom….
Who thinks to put an icebox in their bathroom and then pair it with modern art? Undecorated Home does. That’s who. And I love it. The old meets modern vibe is awesome. See more of Megan’s work and follow Undecorated Home on Instagram here.
