You guys.
You guys.
No really, you guys.
So much has changed since the last time I did a full home tour.
Especially my living room. And my kitchen.
I’m almost pee-my-pants excited to show you.
And now that I think about the things that have changed in the past two months, I realize I have no clue how it all got done and that I must be insane.
Oh wait, we already knew that.
Even though, I know you’ve already seen the entryway, let’s start there since its still new-ish.
Disclosure: Kirkland’s provided me with a gift card to do a little shopping for my home tour. However, all opinions are 100% mine.
Entryway Makeover / DIY Confetti Wall
I still love the entryway so much. Its light, bright, and most importantly – fun.
The living room….
Wait for it…
Wait for it…
Boom.
Such a big difference from last time, right?
There’s a new rug, the red buffet has been stripped, and my most favorite new feature of the living room – the black and white framed gallery wall.
Stripped & Restained Buffet / Black & White Gallery Wall
There is still a lot of gold, green, navy, and red in this space. Those are my favorites.
IKEA Tarva turned Drink Bar / DIY Cowhide Rug
I love all the black and white that anchors it as well.
The gallery wall turned out far better than I ever could have dreamed.
Fo Realz. I never thought I could make anything that pretty.
The gray chair is sporting a new shimmery gold pillow, that’s a new white bust as well, and yes, those sconces are new on the wall. The pouf ottoman is new-to-the-space. I may or may not have stolen it from the man cave…..shhhhhh…..
Same thing with the pink ottoman – except I stole it from my office. Moving pieces around is my favorite way to decorate. I was tickled pink to find the gold sphere for a whopping $13.
Let’s move on to the kitchen…
Kitchen Makeover / DIY Kitchen Island / Green & Navy Barstool Makeover
Spot anything different??
NAVY CABINETS!
I die.
And pretty new brass hardware…
I die again.
Me, overdramatic? Whatever…
I loved my kitchen before.
Now, I love my kitchen. Painting the base cabinets navy and adding that brass hardware made it 100% Jenna…and Grunt Labor too..he really likes it..
Coffee Station & 10+ Kitchen Ideas
The entire kitchen got a makeover in three days. It was a total whirlwind and there’s no way I could have done it alone. Kellie, who makes Velvet Finishes, actually came with her crew to pitch in and filmed it all! All that will be posted soon too.
After the cabinets were done, I did some editing and redecorating on the open shelving.
Knock-Off Jonathan Adler Mohawk Lollipop Holder
The Knock-Off Jonathan Adler Mohawk Lollipop Holder graces the top of the shelving. I added a few more touches of brass with the eagle thing (no clue what its called, but it was $1 at a thrift store) and the brass bowl on the bottom. I also switched up the clear glasses for my Grannie’s red ones. I can’t believe I didn’t have those babies showcased before. I love ’em. The antlers didn’t make it into the new gallery wall in the living room, so I hung them in the kitchen. The touch of rustic they add is perfect for the space.
And the dining room…
Not much is different here. I am plotting to strip the table and stain it to connect the space with the living room more.
That would be an ice bucket holding those roses, ’cause I’m a genius like that. You may have seen that tray when I instagrammed it. Its Jonathan Adler and was $4 at Burlington. Score.
I’m still quite smitten with the buffet makeover. Its perfect for tying in the navy cabinets in the kitchen, since that whole space is open.
Everyone who has entered my house for the first time since the Criss-Cross Accent Wall was completed can’t get over the fact that it isn’t wall paper – its paint. And then they totally can’t believe it when I tell them it actually wasn’t that hard.
Last but not least, the master bedroom…
Very little has changed in here since the master bedroom mini-makeover. I did switch out the white lamps for mid-century modern style lamps like you see above. The shape of those lamps pulled me in and had me buying them in five minutes flat.
I added another of the gold pillows to the reading nook and to make the books look less like clutter and more like decor, I topped them off with faux peonies. I’m usually not a faux flower person, but these were really cute and I adore the black and white striped pot.
I didn’t include the kid’s room, guest bedroom + office, and bathroom in the tour since nothing has really changed there at all. You can tour them here though if you haven’t seen them before.
You know you don’t wanna miss any of this crazy.

Thanks, Charlotte! Come on! Stripping the buffet wasn’t actually as hard as I thought it would be. It took a while, but was worth it!

Long time reader-first time comment-er 🙂 (is that a word??)
LOVE the living room gallery wall–so unique! I love the way the TV sort of “hides” in the black and the pictures POP out of it!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Its totally a word, Susie. Around here, anything goes. 🙂 Thank you! I can’t get over how well that wall turned out. I was actually worried that the black combined with the tv might look like a big hole, but it worked out perfectly – shocking!
Sarah says
I am dying over your changes Jenna! All of your rooms look amazing! I can’t decide if I love your living room wall, your dining room wall or your navy cabinets better. Ugh! Sooo good!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Sarah!
Marian@CMShawStudios says
Girl, you are FEARLESS! And there really is something absolutely magic about black, white, and wood. Magic, I say!
Your house is so fun. So you.
I’m almost there. I’m reupholstering two huge mid century chairs -black frame, white textured velvet fabric-, adding a compass rose anchored by a Moravian star to my entry ceiling, sewing Pom Pom trim to my white playroom curtains, and doing a lot of getting rid of and organizing. A LOT of getting rid of. My youngest is almost 8, and that is the magical year they can let go of all the little kid debris.
So cheers for making your house your own!
All the best,
The Other Marian
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
I couldn’t agree more, Marian – black, white, and wood – I LOVE it! Which is shocking, since I usually paint everything in sight! haha! I’m super jealous of your mid century chairs – they sound stunning! I love mid century pieces!! And anything with pom poms gets me every time! Thank you, friend!

Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Awww, thanks, Patty! Grunt Labor was like “You are the only person in the world who would get their kitchen in Better Homes & Gardens, then give it a makeover.” haha! Yep, pretty much.

Please tell me all of your giveaways are not going to be these follow a gazillion others on sites? I was liking your blog until this started. You know, Twitter and others have limits on followers/following, so now it will be Instagram? Sorry, this is very disappointing. I found you through a link on another blog. My Facebook post got you new followers/Likes. This is a lot to ask for a chance to win one $100 gift card. BTW, white and blue are nice, in style, but the brass/gold hardware not so much, it didn’t last long the first time around, with brass faucets. Just sayin’ …. and it’s on every decorating blog today. Originality is key.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Hi Mary! The reason there are so many follows on this giveaway is because there are so many people participating in the spring home tours. Personally, I like the brass / gold hardware, especially with the blue and white. I didn’t use it because its in style now, I used it because I love that combination. If I love it, then to me, its original. Hope you have a great day!
mary ballerin says
I totally agree, in-style doesn’t matter if you like it and it looks good. The gold definitely goes great with navy, I’ve always loved navy or cobalt blue … the gold/brass comeback is growing on me.
mary ballerin says
I have to ask – why sconces next to a wall mounted TV? I love how the black wall draws attention away from the TV, I really do, but those sconces are such a bedroom lighting thing. Are they to help you to see inside drawers or just because they are brass? I loved your home tour when I first found your blog but I have to give my honest opinion regarding the brass hardware on white cupboards, they look cheap and aren’t that special to be drawing so much attention to them. They take away from better elements in the room. Lastly, it was lovely to see unpainted wood, the wood is beautiful!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
I love how the stripped buffet turned out as well. As for the sconces, I love them and wanted another element on the wall beside all the frames. I think they can work where you want them to, not just in the bedroom.
Pat says
I have to ask ~ is there a possibility that you could state the things you like rather than your negative comments? Each person decorates as they wish and live in a home that *their* tastes reflect. Would you want someone to say these things to you?
Just sayin’ ~
mary ballerin says
Pat – Did you miss my last comment? I pointed out what I liked and had questions from someone whose fashion sense I admire. Are fake, gushing compliments more your style? If that’s what is wanted here then I won’t ask questions because I’m honest, it’s how I roll. IMHO the nickel hardware looks better against the white cabinets and the gold looks great on the navy, to each their own. Lastly, I can see where the sconces would give less glare coming from beside/behind the TV on that awesome gallery wall. I have recently learned this through my own experience, I thought there may be a reason so I inquired. The only wrong question is the one not asked. FYI, there’s more to decorating than the color of paint. Since Jenna changes her decor often it seems she may have second thoughts on her decorating decisions. Be real.
Megan says
Love, love, love your living room!! The stained cabinets paired with black, white, and gold (plus color!) makes me so happy. Love the idea of staining your kitchen table to match. Now…. Can I move in?! 🙂
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Megan!! I can’t believe that stripped and stained buffet turned out so well and worked perfectly against the wall.

Girl. FRIEND. Shut your face right now – your living room makeover is INSANE!! I’m literally clicking back and forth in my browser from before to after and my jaw is on the floor SPILLING THE WINE OUT MY MOUTH. My Mac can hardly handle this kind of talent. One more click and I’m certain it will delete all of my home photos for being subsubpar. (<- That was on purpose typing, not drunk typing. You knew that. Or for sure your Bud Light did.)
And yes all day to those navy cabinets and new brass hardware! I die, too.
You're amazing. I can't even (brass) handle it.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Girl, don’t spill that wine!! Honey, that stuff is important! As if your home is subsubpar. What the freak ever. Get real! Thanks, though. You boosted my ego tremendously today. 😉

Glenda B says
Jenna,
I love, love, love, your house! I love all the pops of color & the color combinations. I have been going back & forth about doing my kitchen cabinets two different colors too but couldn’t decide until now. I want to paint the bottom a medium light blue and the top white with peach accents, i.e. dish towels, placemats, curtains, napkins, etc. You are an amazing, creative girl! I love and read your blog daily. I can’t wait to see what you have next each day! Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and projects with us. Oh and the brass thing with the eagle on top is what the legal field calls “The Scales Of Justice”. You see them in court rooms & they are even printed on money. Again thank you for your truly wonderful decorating ideas!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thank you so very much, Glenda! You are such a sweetheart! I think your kitchen will look great like that. I love the two different color look on the cabinets – adds so much interest!

Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Awww, thanks so much, Amanda!
Maray says
Jenna, love your site and your story. Could you tell me if your kitchen cabinets are all wood? Cause I REALLY want to paint mine but they are”builder grade bottom of the line laminate type stuff that peels (mine haven’t started doing that YET)”. I don’t know where to start with them and wanted to hear from someone who had done it and could HELP.! This house, as you said about yours, was a steal and one that we loved, after having lived in our “child raising” home for 30 years. Our plans had been to tear out the kitchen when we bought the house (in 2007) and replace however, with the economy going belly-up and the hubby being self employed it didn’t happen and probably won’t.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
My cabinets are real wood, Maray. Are yours the same material on both the front and back of the cabinet doors? If so, you could test a spot on the back of a cabinet door to see how it might work.
Kellie Smith says
Wow Jenna!! Your casa is just amazing!! Thank you so much much for letting us help you with your kitchen makeover! We enjoyed every minute of it!!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Kellie! Couldn’t have done the kitchen without you!
