It’s always fun to be a villain on Halloween, right? This DIY Cruella Deville costume was made from a few thrift store finds, some simple makeup and a few perfect (but budget friendly!) accessories.
It’s one of my favorite times of the year, folks – Halloween! Y’all know, the Circus and I start planning out our Halloween costumes in the summer, ok, sometimes the spring. haha!
While my witch costume from a couple years back is one of my all time favorites – you can never go wrong with a good witch! – my Cruella costume from last year was really fun to put together as well.
101 Dalmatians wasn’t ever really one of my favorite movies growing up, but Cruella has most definitely grown on me over the years. Well, Glenn Close as Cruella has grown on me – she was just fabulous in that movie!
I don’t buy readymade costumes unless it just makes more sense to – homemade ones tend to be soooo much better, right? This Cruella costume DIY was easy to put together and affordable – half of it came from the thrift store!

Cruella Deville Costume
If you don’t want to read all the details about how I put it all together, here are “ingredients”:
Long Black Dress – Look in the formal section at your local thrift stores. I scored mine for $4 and one day, it just might double as an Ursula costume.
Fur Coat – Again, thrift store! I actually already had my black and white fur coat on hand (I have a thing for furs.), but it was purchased at a thrift store and that’s where I have found most of my furs.
I don’t go crazy on makeup with Halloween costumes. I wasn’t going to paint my face white or gray to give it that true Cruella skin color. All that paint just annoys the heck out of. So, as I did with my witch makeup last year, I just put on my regular base of makeup, perhaps a bit more heavy and then embellished with eyeshadow and lipstick.
I loaded up my eyes with green eyeshadow, black eyeliner and gave those brows a good thick coat of eyebrow mascara as well. And of course, red lips are a must for Cruella!
There are quite a few different black and white wigs out there to choose from. I actually tried three different ones and this one worked best for me. It held it’s shape nicely and had that Cruella flair. Be sure to use a wig cap with it – makes putting the wig on so much easier!
Cruella Clothing and Accessories
For the base of my Cruella outfit, I just found a long formal black dress from the thrift store. It certainly doesn’t have to be a formal dress, but when it’s only $4, you go for it. I paired it with a black and white fur coat I already had as well, but had found at a thrift store a few months back.
Don’t forget to accessorize! Red gloves and a cigarette holder are no-brainers for Cruella. I also opted to glam her up a bit as well with some oversized costume jewelry.
I’ve had those clip on earrings for years and this costume turned out to be the perfect chance to wear them.
And if you have a significant other like mine who prefers extreme comfort in his Halloween costume, you can get him this Dalmatian costume…Find it here.
Looking for another fun Halloween costume? Here’s one of my all time favorite DIY witch costumes.
And this DIY witch broom is a must for accessorizing your witch costume AND decorating with!
Hi there! Welcome to the It’s a Colorful Life Christmas Home Tours! Did you just jump over from Heather at Southern State of Mind? I just loved all her nutcracker themed touches! If you haven’t toured her holiday home yet, be sure to after mine and also catch the rest of the tours as well – the entire lineup is at the end of the post!
I was at the thrift store yesterday and one of the employees noted how I’d scored some good art finds. I told him that tended to be how it went with me. Despite making a thrift store stop in hopes of finding a console table for the upcoming mudroom makeover, I found art. And lots of it. My shopping trips always end up becoming themed and not the theme I set out for it to be.
That’s right. Only here will you find camels and swans co-mingling among one another while being supervised by busts of David in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
And it’s all surrounded by colorful pops of holiday cheer.
This camel decided he liked it so much here last year that he stayed the whole year through.
If you did see my colorful home tour last year, this area might look pretty similar to last year’s holiday decor. I used the same garland, flower arrangement and throwing-gifts-all-over-the-place trick as I did last year. I freshened up the garland with new ribbon and ornaments though.
I don’t know what it was with swans this year, but it’s like I was a magnet to them. Every yard sale and thrift store I haunted, these things just kept screaming “Buy my majestic self!” So I did. While you won’t see all the swan decor I’ve accumulated this year in my home tour, here is a paper mâché one I scored at Goodwill for $2. She’s keeping the coffee table pretty.
As you’ll see in a moment, completely unnatural looking glitter poinsettias seem to be making a strong move toward becoming holiday focal points around here as well…
This little nook has quickly become a favorite of mine.
This leopard may get its own “everyday” collar after the holidays. I’ve loved dressing it up for Halloween and now Christmas.
I finally got my act together and worked the massive cabinet more into the holiday decor by running magnolia garland along the top and donning the busts with bows. Bows are also a theme here, huh?
When they aren’t wearing bows, a few special ones get vintage scarfs. Everyone learns the meaning of accessorizing well around here.
I told you poinsettias were trying to take center stage. I made these simple chair embellishments from floral picks.
I switched out the silver tinsel tree I had in here last year for a slimmer rose gold tree. And in a shocking twist, I actually used color coordinating ornaments and ribbons to decorate it.
Yes, those are swans on the tree. I saw them and once more, they just called my name and sparked this whole tree’s feel.
While his looks are deceiving, David actually does approve of the swan tree.
He fought me on the bow though. 😆
I tend to keep the table simple during the holidays. To dress it up just a bit, I arranged some faux greenery, a few ornaments and a swan candleholder (a $4 yard sale find) on the marble slab I keep on the table.
Merry Christmas, friends! I hope you all have a wonderfully colorful holiday filled with family, friends, lots of love and maybe even a camel and/or swan! 😉
The next stop on the It’s a Colorful Life Christmas tours today is Our Fifth House! Carmel recently moved into a beautiful new home and it is absolutely gorgeous this holiday season! The full tour lineup is below as well!

The holidays are stressful enough, so how about we make holiday decorating a little less stressful, huh?
You’re with me? Yay!
I truly love decorating for the holidays. I love all the shiny ribbons, chic bows and colorful touches everywhere. I also love not spending a ton of time and thought on those things. And funny enough, I often end up liking my super simple holiday decorations more than the ones I spent countless hours trying to perfect.
So today, I’m going to share five different simple holiday decorating looks focused around working your everyday decor into your holiday decor.
And of course, it’s all shiny. Because duh. It is Christmas.
SIMPLE HOLIDAY DECORATING IDEAS
Supplies Needed
To create some of my favorite holiday looks, I used…
Command™ products are what makes this holiday decorating so easy. No tools required and they still give you a strong hold. With their new adjustable line, you don’t have to get it perfectly in place the first time – these can be repositioned up to three times in the first 20 minutes, giving you the extra chances you need. And let me just tell you about all the extra chances I’ve needed in my life…You’ll find Command® Adjustables™ at your local Walmart.
I also found all the other items I used – bows, ribbon, etc. at Walmart as well.
EASY HOLIDAY LOOK #1: “HANG” IT FROM A PRETTY BOW.
Do you guys remember in the 90’s when everyone wrapped their wall art in wrapping paper each holiday season? I mean, I love me some great wrapping paper, but I also love my art. I don’t want to cover it up during the season, I’d rather make it shine! So, adding a bow that the art “hangs” from is my interpretation of the 90’s wrapping paper on wall art.
Add a couple of strips of ribbon to the back of the bow that will be long enough to go behind the art.
These bows came with a decorating tie attached to the back. I just secured the extra ribbon onto that. Next, make a loop with the remaining tie left.
Place a hook above your artwork.
No worries if you don’t get it placed exactly where you need it the first time – you can readjust it!
Place your bow on the hook, then work the ribbon behind the frame to make it look like the frame is hanging from the bow. Adjust the hook as needed.
Boom. Chic holiday decor that only looks hard!
EASY HOLIDAY LOOK #2: ADORN WITH ORNAMENT CLUSTERS.
You guys know ornament clusters are my jam during the holidays and I love to hang them from just about anything I can. Another way I like to embellish art at Christmas is with these gorgeous colorful clusters. (Tutorial for the clusters is here.)
Tie the ornament clusters on, then adjust as needed.
Command® Brand Adjustables™ Hooks can be repositioned up to three times and still hold strong. Each hook or clip will hold up to 1 lb.
I love my chicken lady, but I love her more when surrounded by shiny colorful ornaments.
EASY HOLIDAY LOOK #3: ZHUSH UP THE MIRROR TOO.
For this one, I wanted to give the bow and ribbon around the mirror a “molded” look and I wanted to keep the ribbon out of the way of actually being able to look in the mirror. Using wire edged ribbon helped with molding the ribbon like I wanted, but Command® Adjustables™ Repositionable 1 lb Clips were also key here.
Just like with the first bow I showed you, I attached extra ribbon to the back, then made a loop with the remaining wire for hanging. I attached a Command® Adjustables™ Repositionable 1 lb Hook to the top center of the mirror to hang the bow from. Then, I attached Command® Adjustables™ Repositionable 1 lb Clips (better for taming ribbon and garlands), to either side of the mirror and clipped the ribbon down.
See, even the camel is ooohing and ahhhing over that one.
EASY HOLIDAY LOOK #4: RIBBON + ORNAMENT CLUSTERS = ALL THE HEART EYES.
And for the grand finale, we combine three of my favorite things – beautiful ribbon, ornament clusters and gorgeous oversized art.
I have a couple pieces of oversized art that needs a little more than just clusters. For those, I use a combo of ribbons and clusters hung on Command® Adjustables™ Repositionable 1 lb Clips.
Simply place a few clips on the wall above the art or whatever you are embellishing, then attach long flowy lengths of ribbon to the clips. Layer on enough ribbon to provide some depth. Then, top off the clips with ornaments clusters.
Yea. It’s kind of my favorite too.
The best thing about all these holiday decorating looks? When you take it all down after Christmas, you won’t have damaged your walls!
What simple holiday looks will you be whipping up this year?
Want to come back to these ideas later? Just pin the image below!
Hi there! If you’re new here, hopping over from Laura at The Turquoise Home, welcome! I’m thrilled you’re here! Wasn’t Laura’s house a treat? She has a beautiful home, but she’s also such a sweet soul. I hope you enjoy my holiday tour today as well!
Simplicity.
Such an elusive word sometimes, right? When my uncle (the farmer) is debating over buying new equipment or fixing something, I always ask him if it’s going to make life more simple. Usually, the answer is yes and I follow that up with, “Why are we waiting then?”
I’ve come to realize I need to take my own advice more often.
This year, I was itching to dress the knotty pine clad den at the farm up for the holidays. It’s my favorite room in the whole entire world.
And while I had no particular ideas in general for this space, the room itself knew exactly where to go…and it also knew I needed to keep things simple.
So I let it lead me.
I think things just tend to work out better that way.
And if my Pap were still sitting in this room watching Gunsmoke, while he’d shake his head and laugh at his Stetson used as the tree topper, he’d still appreciate the holiday nod to the cowboys.
The tree didn’t get even get lights. All it needed were a few simple ornaments to make it special.
There was no rhyme or reason, but I even pulled out her old typewriter for the season. The spirit just moved me. And I listened because that’s what you do when the spirit talks.
And of course, it worked out perfectly as an anchor for the vintage Christmas cards.
Because this room just knew…
…like it’s always known exactly what I needed and when to wrap me up with its sweet memories.
Up next on the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas tours is Stacy Risenmay – you won’t want to miss her!
Don’t miss the full lineup below either – there are real gems here, y’all!

So, there are gifts here for both the classy ladies on your list who prefer heels to sneakers and also those gals who prefer the simple things in life and then everything else in between.
Some brands provided products and/or compensation for inclusion in this gift guide. However, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
Can you believe that’s a fake tattoo? Gorgeous, no? I’m not a big tattoo person, but I wouldn’t mind having a few of these to test drive so to speak. These would be so fun to get for all your girlfriends!
We are queens. We have this shit under control. Just because we don’t look it sometimes, doesn’t mean we aren’t on top of it all. This coffee mug is perfect for those queen bees on your list!
This art print is for any of those colorful ladies on your list who’ve ever jacked that hair to Jesus. They have mastered the fine art of teasing the hound of their hair and most likely have a colorful personality as well…
Personally, I am partial to beautiful, unique vases – such as this one. For the equally unique girl on your list, who can appreciate great art and a beautiful vase, look no further than this little gem.
I don’t care what anyone else says, you can never never never go wrong with a great pair of pajamas for any lady on your list. Get an extra cozy pair they’ll want to stay in all day – like these.
Just like pajamas, the same is true of gloves – you can never go wrong gifting a great pair of gloves! These cashmere gloves would be a treat for any lady on your list and they come in a variety of colors!
Ain’t nothing wrong with going the gift card route – especially when it’s one like this! These Happy Her gift cards are a great option for ladies because they have multiple options for where to spend their gift card. They can treat themselves to a great dinner, new makeup, clothes, a spa day and more! You can get these gift cards starting at just $20!
I adore these earrings. I’ve actually added them to my own Christmas list. These are perfect for dressing up or dressing down and come in multiple different colors. I’m also quite partial to the emerald ones! Right now, some of these earring styles are 40% off!
I personally have this necklace and absolutely adore it. Obviously, it’s beautiful, but it’s also one of those necklaces that I wear with a t-shirt and jeans or a fancier blouse and pants. It’s versatile! You can find this necklace here on Etsy or here at Wander and Lust.
This hat is definitely for those ladies on your list who love a touch of fancy every now and then. I also love it because it can go with just about any type/color of fur. I have this beauty and adore it.
For those gals who light to keep things light, but also enjoy a touch of bling, there’s this phone pocket. It attaches to the back of their phone and conveniently holds cards and cash – this is a great stocking stuffer too!
My aunt turned me onto these leather handbags a while back and I just love them. I got one earlier this year and it’s become my everyday bag for the most part. And since it’s leather, it’s super durable and only gets better with age! Find this one here.
It’s a wallet, no it’s a wristlet – no, it’s both! This handy little wallet can be either a wallet or a wristlet, whichever you need more at the moment. It has plenty of storage inside to hold all your cards, cash and change, with a little room to spare for a couple other necessities. It’s also water resistant as well.
I have one of these versatile little bags and I love it for travel, yard and saleing. It has the ability to be a wristlet or a crossbody bag and has built-in slots for your cards inside, so no need for a wallet! It’s also available in lots of different colors.
A good canvas tote will never go out of style and never let you down. A navy monogram is icing on the cake on this tote from Things Remembered. This is perfect for mamas to toss a little work in or a great book while waiting on their kids sports practices to be over.
I included a great duffel bag in my gift guide for adventurers and wanted to include another great weekender bag in this guide as well – every woman needs a great weekender bag. This one is cute and a little more roomier than a duffel bag.
This one is great for busy mamas who deserve a little-me time. While they take a much deserved soak in the tub, they can also pamper their skin with one of these mask treatments.
My mother-in-law got me one of these for Christmas one year and it has been the handiest little thing ever. It keeps all my manicure tools in one place and is perfect for travel! Find it here!
The robe to end all robes here. Or in my opinion anyway. We’ve already discussed my feelings on fur 😉 This cozy robe has fur trim on the collar and cuffs, plus you can get it monogrammed, which is the icing on the cake.
Rarely do people treat themselves to a great pair of slippers. Get the lady on your list some ultra cozy slippers to go along with that robe. This Cally style won’t fail you and is available in multiple different colors.
The holidays are the perfect time to treat the makeup fiend on your list to some new shades and products that they might just end up falling in love with. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one of these sets.
Age is just a number, right? Remind them of that and help them own their own birth year with one of these “Original” sweatshirts. See all the years available here – they are also available in t-shirts. I have one similar to this in my birth year and it’s one of my favorite sweatshirts!
If you’re perusing this list of gifts for her for your significant other in your life, then this is the gift that yes, will cost a bit more money that you might have anticipated, but it could also be the gift that creates great memories. How about giving an experience this year as a gift? Like a trip somewhere? I love giving experiences when I can because it’s truly one of those gifts that is unforgettable. We did a trip for the Circus as a Christmas present last year and it’s one of our most favorite trips we’ve ever taken. Right now, Atlantis Bahamas has some special offers available for you to plan a one-of-a-kind Christmas gift. 🙂
What great gifts for her will you be purchasing this year?
We all have at least one on our list – that guy who seems to have everything. Don’t fear though – I’ve went straight to the source (men) and compiled a list of gifts for the impossible man. That’s right – here are over 25 gifts for hard to buy for men.
If you’ve been with me for a while, you may know that holiday gift giving is one of my favorite things in the world. I really love to pick out thoughtful, meaningful gifts for every person on my list and I relish in watching their faces when they open their gifts. Even us snarky gals have a soft side very now and then.
Let me tell ya though – picking out gifts for men can be hard. They can sometimes be just really hard to buy for, right?
So for this gift guide for men who you never really have any idea of what to get them, I went straight to the source – Grunt Labor.
I made him tell me the best gifts he’d received that he always uses over and over again, what items he’s putting on his list this year and what things he finds just really useful in life.
Gifts for Men Who Are Hard To Buy For

At just $10, maybe every guy needs to get one of these for Christmas this year. This is perfect for those guys who love leaning back in their chair with a drink close by. And maybe, you won’t get yelled at to help him look for the remote anymore either…. Find it here.
For those dapper dudes…
A pocket square is much more interesting when it’s fun, no? For those guys on your list who would agree, they will most definitely appreciate this vintage-esque Hawaii style pocket square.
When they’re the best one for figuring out what they need, get them a Happy Guy gift card. You can get these in amounts as little as $20 and they can be used at multiple different retailers!
A Really Cool Bottle Opener
This is one of my favorite gifts for guys I’ve found this year. These are actual bullets that were discharged by the military and then made into bottle openers. You can get them engraved as well. I opted to just have my gift recipient’s initials put on the one I got, but you can do their name, commemorate a special event, or whatever else you can dream up. Find the bullet bottle openers here and use code LIFESTYLE to get 10% off the bottle openers or anything else in this Etsy shop.
Both my man of questionable honor and Grunt Labor love a good cigar every now and then. If my education of cigars serves me correctly, a key to keeping cigars fresh is a humidor. Here’s a nice humidor for doing just that.
For the man in your life that has an undying love for his sports team, I’m sure he would appreciate any of these sports team grilling accessories. They’ll literally be able to serve up their team spirit using the meat brander and/or hot dog brander. Then let them show their team spirit and throw in another manly grunt as well when they fully clad their grill with their beloved sports team on the team logo grill cover.
Both Grunt and my father-in-law have a set of these and both love them. My father-in-law has a set that says “I love you Pa” on one and my daughter’s name and birthdate on the other. Grunt Labor has one like that as well, but with Daddy. He also has one that says “Kick Ass.” You can seriously have loads of fun customizing these collar stays.
A Great Watch Case
If your guy is like mine and has to have a watch for various occasions (sporty, dressy, fun, etc.) then get him this watch case – it holds 12 watches and they can gaze at their lovelies through the glass top.
This is another one of those little gems from The Apollo Box. I think this little guy is so cute, but useful too. While he’s getting ready, shaving or just sitting at the table, he can easily watch ESPN, the news or a crazy cat video without ever actually holding his phone. Find the astronaut phone stand here.
I think we all know at least one guy who is a bit of a sneaker fanatic. He’s ready to hit order as soon as the latest, trendy style is released. He has boxes of mint condition Jordans. While other’s sneakers look worn within the first month, his are always pristine. For him, there’s this book.
If your guy has yet to jump on the Yeti train, then here is the perfect gift for him. These are the real deal at keeping things cold. Both Grunt and I swear by them. The coozie is of course perfect for keeping cans cold. The lowball is great for cocktails on the deck. If you’re looking for a bigger ticket item, the Yeti Tundra Cooler will literally hold ice for days without melting https://educacioncrada.com/teoria-del-color-como-aplicarla/.
So they like beer?
If they are really into craft beer and trying new kinds, then they might love you extra for signing them up for a monthly craft beer club. This craft beer club will send twelve beers a month in four different styles. It’s a gift that keeps on giving throughout the year.
I grew up with men who always carried a pocket knife on them. They used it to cut pears straight from the tree, clean their fingernails and often as a tool. The value of a good pocket knife should never be underestimated. This zebra wood pocket knife can also be personalized.
Personalized Cooler Bag
If they are heading out to go fishing, golfing or any other outdoor adventure, I’m sure they would appreciate a good cooler bag to take along with them. You can get this one in three different colors.
If they seem to often lose their phone and/or wallet, then this is the perfect gift for them. It puts the two into one and you can personalize it on top of that! Find this little gem right here!
Happy feet = happy guy.
Any of these slipper options are under $50 and are sure to make the fella’s feet on your list happy and comfortable for years to come. The warmest and softest are going to be the pile lined hardsole or softsole. If they tend to be tougher on shoes or like to walk the dog in their slippers, go for the hardsole for longer durability. The Double Bottle Fleece Slippers are going to be a bit lighter and flexible. More slipper options can also be found here.
Get the golfer on your list organized and maybe even give him some room to grow with this two bag golf organizer. It also has pull-out baskets for storing tees, balls and gloves.
A Good Set of Sawhorses
There are few things worse than rickety sawhorses. Grunt Labor and I have had our share of them. Finally getting good solid sawhorses that wouldn’t buckle when something was put on them was one of the best investments we made. This set of two sawhorses includes a cool clamping feature.
As we’ve previously discussed, vinyl is back. I’ve already bought myself this Crosley turntable – and it hasn’t stopped playing since I got it – except when I’m sleeping. This is perfect for those guys on your list who love vinyl.
This wallet is one of my favorite finds this holiday season. First off, it’s leather. I’ve never met a man who didn’t appreciate something leather. Secondly, you can have their initials put on the outside of it, but then also a special message on the inside. Think outside the box for the special message – I had song lyrics put on the wallet I got. Find this wallet here!
Grunt Labor is a runner and wanted new earphones for a really long time. He got these Beats headphones earlier this year and uses them non-stop. He says they of course have great sound, but are really comfortable as well, which many in-ear headphones aren’t.
A Great Weekender Bag
Every guy needs a good weekender bag. One that’s durable, but not too “pretty” looking. Grunt Labor has one and as I’ve said before, he uses it all the time. These bags are the perfect size for weekend trips.
I’m on a mission to bring back valets. These are just so handy and perfect for organizing your next day’s attire. Everything you need, all in one place. Find this valet here. This one even has a lidded storage compartment and pull-out drawer for added storage – what a great place to store watches too!
If you really want to win them over this holiday season, then a great gift option is the new Gillette Labs Heated Razor. It’s warming bar distributes heat throughout the shave to give that feel of a professional hot towel shave at home. Both he and his face will thank you.

Even if you don’t have a soul to get this book for, hop over and take a gander through the book. Bless these animals hearts. It’s bad enough they died, but now they have been immortalized in horribly gone-wrong taxidermy attempts. There are some things you just can’t make up in life and this book is one of them.
Seriously. WTF.

I think there’s a little bit of a foodie in all of us, right? I mean, who doesn’t love great food? Not all of us might enjoy preparing it, but we’ll all eat it, right? haha!
This list of gift ideas is geared toward all the foodies on your holiday gift list – including the cooks, the bakers, the hosts and yes, those who just love damn good food.
And while I don’t proclaim to be a fantastic cook myself (I leave that to my mother-in-law), some of these items in this gift guide are ones I own myself and have been complete game changers in my own kitchen.
Disclosure: Some product mentions in this gift guide are sponsored by Crate and Barrel. However, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
If you’ve never watched Breaking Bad, this apron might not be that funny to you. If you have watched it, you probably just grinned. Every great cook deserves to have a great apron, right? Find this one here.
Great cooks should also be outfitted with fantastic hand towels for their kitchen, no? I love these fun towels and all their colorful details. You can also opt for a sheep instead of a goat. Find both here.
This is so much more than a pastry slab, folks. I have one of these and couldn’t live without it. Yes, it is a great pastry slab and perfect for rolling out doughs, but it also creates a countertop anyplace you need one. I have it on top of a buffet in my kitchen and it serves as a coffee bar there. It’s also a great serving board as well. Find this marble slab here.
Not only will these quickly prove their worth in the kitchen, but they will also add a colorful punch for those cooks on your list who love color. This knife set also comes with covers for each knife. At less than $25 right now, this is a heck of a deal – buy one as a gift and for yourself! Find the set here.
This isn’t your average toaster oven. It can also bake, broil and fry with its built-in air fryer. Perfect for those on your list who love experimenting with new cooking techniques! More details on this little gem here.
My mother-in-law bought me this dutch oven as a gift one Christmas and I use it for all sorts of things including soups, fried chicken and more. The best price I’ve found for this one is here.
Another gift from Mama here that I can’t live without now! These goldtouch nonstick quarter sheets are perfect for roasting vegetables, cooking biscuits, and anything else that requires a sheet pan.
The kitchen appliance that packs a serious punch in both the beauty and versatility department. You’ll only find this Shaded Palm hue at Crate and Barrel. There isn’t much this mixer can’t do and it does it all while looking pretty. If the foodie guy or gal on your list doesn’t already have one of these, then go ahead and make their year with this one. I’m willing to bet you’ll even reap a few benefits from gifting one of these – possibly in the form of cookies. Don’t think it can’t do more though – we use ours for everything from sausage balls to meringue. The mixer comes with a five-quart mixing bowl complete with handle, a flat beater, wire whip, spiral dough hook and a pouring shield.
These cheese markers are made from vintage silverware and I think they are just beautiful. They are sold individually, so you can buy as little or as many as you like.
These beauties are on my own holiday wish list. These beautifully detailed canapé plates make a perfect gift for that host on your list who can appreciate color and pattern as well. Find the set here.
If dragons might be too much for them, opt for this gorgeous Tiffany tulips pitcher. Honestly, I love it just as much as the plate set. How gorgeous would this be to use at a spring party?
The most humorous cheese board you’ve ever seen! The metal “trap” portion is also a cheese slicer! At less than $25, this is great budget friendly gift for those hostesses on your list!
Many of you may know that I love a great cloth dinner napkin. This chambray set could work with so many styles and color schemes. You’ll get bonus points for adding a monogram to them!
Have a sushi lover on your holiday list? For those ones that just can’t get enough of it, this sushi ornament makes a super fun gift to give. It’s also less than $10!
And for those who can’t get enough cheese of every kind in their lives, there’s this fun t-shirt. You can also choose from different color options with this one.
Have a meat lover on your list? Gift them a monthly subscription to the Carnivore Club. Choose from a snacking option, classy carnivore or an exotic jerky bouquet.
For the sweet tooths on your list, either one of these would be a truly sweet treat to gift. I’m not a big marshmallow person, but these salted caramel topped ones look divine. I am a huge toffee lover and I would love nothing more than to sit myself down on the sofa with a bowl of this stuff.
Will you be picking up any gifts for foodies this year?
Sometimes it can be so hard to figure out what to get someone who has everything. If they need something, they usually buy it for themselves, right? Well, this unique gift ideas for the person who has everything list is sure to have something on it they will love!
We all have those people on our gift lists who are so hard to buy for. They seem to have everything. And if there is something they do need, they go buy it. It’s nearly impossible to shop for those people!
When it comes to buying holiday gifts for those folks, I try to think outside the box.
This list of gift ideas for someone who has everything is a combination of gifts I’ve gotten for those people in the past or am getting for them this year. There’s a little something here for everyone – personalized gifts, practical gifts, unique gifts and more.

While most people have plenty of photos of their pets, most don’t have a gorgeous piece of art depicting their pet. To have the portrait done, all you usually need is a photo you can send to the Etsy seller. I’m willing to bet you can pull one of those from your gift recipient’s Facebook page. If you can’t though, I have complete faith in your stealthy undercover snap-a-photo moves. Find out more about getting custom pet artwork here.
Get a family portrait done in a different way – have it made into a one of a kind art piece. This is a fun twist on the traditional family portrait and a great way to make sure everyone is smiling! haha! Details on family art here.
I will never not include a custom home portrait in my gift guides at least once every holiday season. These babies are just too good not to mention. We’ve now given multiple people custom home portraits and they are always a hit and often bring a tear to an eye. All you’ll need is a photo of the house you want the portrait for. While giving them a portrait of the house they are in is always a great idea, you can also think outside the box – like their childhood home, the first house they started their family in, their grandparent’s home, etc. This will be something they will treasure for a very long time. Details on the house art here.
The Gift of Cozy – the holidays are the perfect time to spoil them!
I promise they will love you forever for this one! A towel warmer is the ultimate treat for those folks who seem to already have everything. Each time they come out of the shower, they’ll be greeted by a warm and cozy towel – courtesy of you. 🙂 Find this one here.
Weighted blankets are all the rage right now and for good reason – they keep you all nice, warm and tucked in all night long for a great night’s sleep. These come in multiple different weight and color options, along with great reviews. Find them here.
One thing I like to spoil people with is a great pair of slippers. They might buy themselves a pair of slippers, but they often won’t splurge on a really great pair that are super soft and cozy and made to last for years. My go-to place for great slippers is Minnetonka.
A night out on the town is always a great gift to give. Even if they already have everything, they still have to eat, right? They can treat themselves to a great dinner followed by a movie or perhaps a little shopping. I love giving Happy Cards because they offer such a wide variety of places to eat and shop with just one card. Another great option for holiday gifts is the Happy Holidays gift card as well! See all the Happy Card options here.
Everyone needs a calendar, right? Two options here and neither will fail you. Everyone loves a great Norman Rockwell print and they’ll get to enjoy a new one every month with this calendar. For family members like grandparents and aunts and uncles on your list, make them a custom calendar complete with pictures of the littles all through it.
Currently at just $14, these coasters are a steal. I actually have a set of these myself and adore them. They are gorgeously detailed and very high quality – a great unique gift for folks. Find them here.
The person who has everything might have a Yeti, but do they have a handy little personalized handle for it? Not only do these look great, but they are functional too. Find it here.
Legacybox is one of the coolest things I’ve found. You send them all your old family photos, slides, VHS tapes, anything like that and they digitize it for you. This is a really great gift for your family members or friends who are family history buffs or just lovers of old family photos and videos. You can find Legacybox on Amazon.
When we got our Echo Dot, I fell hard and fast. This thing is just a little gem. You can ask it to look something up for you, add items to your grocery list which it can sync to your phone, tell it to play Eric Church, The Little Mermaid, or whatever your little heart desires and it will do it. It’s flat amazing. Find the Echo here.
Umbrellas should be pretty and functional. That’s why I love this one. I actually have it myself and it’s never failed me. This umbrella is compact, so easily fits in a handbag and is great for travel, but is big enough to cover me, the hubs and kid and is sturdy as well. Find it here.
If they are an art lover or would just enjoy taking a jaunt through The MET via their own sofa, then get them this book that contains the most iconic and greatest paintings that The MET has. It has gorgeous, color illustrations of each painting from countless different time periods.
I love a great scarf and these two are no exception. Not only would the Statue of Liberty neckerchief be beautiful adorning the neck or handbag of someone, but I also think it would be beautiful framed. We actually got the Irises scarf for someone on our gift list last year and she loved it!
I’m not a cat person, but even I think this cat is fun! This beautifully painted ceramic cat has a raised left paw to to bring good fortune in their home. It comes in multiple different color options. Find it here.
Give that hard to buy for person in your life a pillow or towel showcasing the state they live in, their original home or where they attended college. Find the pillow here and the towel here.
I’m not crazy. My grandfather, who had everything he could possibly need, received the best oranges for Christmas as a gift one year. We both gobbled them up and I’m not even an orange person.
Any ideas you can add for what to buy someone who has everything already?

The perfect way for them to display photos from their trips on the fridge is with these vintage map magnets! You can choose your own cities to put on the magnets!

Any great gift ideas for travelers you would like to share?
Most kids can easily create a list a mile long containing all the toys they want for Christmas. I know my kid can and already has! But, we don’t always want to get them just toys. This list of gifts for kids that aren’t toys has a few things they might not have wanted, but will end up enjoying – a whole lot.
If any of you have kids or grandkids like my little Circus, they’ve already made up their list for Santa and their parents and it’s full of toy after toy after toy. And hey, that’s alright! It is Christmas and I can’t imagine not seeing the Circus’ face light up as she gets a few toys she’s been longing for.
However, I also like to surprise the Circus with a Christmas gift or two that she didn’t ask for and that aren’t toys, but that she will enjoy just as much.
If you’re on that same page, this list of gifts for kids might have a thing or two the littles in your life would love – they just don’t know it yet!
This list is more focused on gifts for little kids, roughly ages 4-8ish. My kiddo fits in that age bracket, so it’s easier for me to come up with things that kids in that age group would enjoy. Some of these gifts could absolutely work for kids younger or older than four and eight, and of course, you’ll be the best judge for that!
Some brands provided products and/or compensation for inclusion in this gift guide. However, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

Bring their art to life with this 3D pen! This is definitely one for kids that are a little older, as it does plug in and heat up. Instead of ink, this pen puts out plastic to create 3D shapes.
We also love some painting by sticker around here. These are especially great for road trips to keep the kids occupied. It also requires them to use those fine motor skills as well.

Every kiddo needs a little super hero magic in their lives…
At Minted, you can get personalized notebooks for kids and choose to get either lined or blank paper inside the notebook. We’re getting the Circus two notebooks – one blank for drawing and one lined for writing this year. Each is personalized with her name as well. Find the Dino notebook here and the full selection of kid’s notebooks from Minted here.
When I was a kid, I had a few fancy notepads that had my name on them and I thought that was so cool. Since the Circus is learning how to write now, I thought it might be fun to get her some of her own stationery that she can write letters to family and friends on. Besides the rainbowdesign there are also lots of other designs to choose from here.
If you’ve got a mini-artist on your hands, then they will think this black paper sketchbook is super cool. They might never want to go back to boring white paper after using this.

If you have an avid book reader on your holiday gift list, take a look at at this list of best gifts for readers! There are some great books you could get them, but there are also great gifts for book lovers that aren’t books!
Since we talk books around here a good bit (although I am behind on sharing my latest good reads with you!), I thought it would be fun to create a gift list full of gifts for bookworms this holiday season.
I’ve complied some of my favorite reads (and ones I have on my to-read list) in different genres, but since it can sometimes be hard to sometimes pinpoint exactly what a fellow reader might like to read, I’ve also gathered some non-book gifts for book readers. I have to say, some of these are just super creative!
Some brands provided products and/or compensation for inclusion in this gift guide. However, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
For the guy or gal who still believes in the power of a real book and the beauty of the library, grab them these library card socks. If you’ve got someone who’s a bit of a rebel, get them these banned book socks.
Choose to have book page text from Pride and Prejudice, Sherlock Holmes, Hamlet, Les Miserable, or the Count of Monte Cristo put on this literary glass. This glass is perfect someone who winds down with a good book & drink before bedtime.
This set of coasters is the perfect gift to complement your reader’s favorite reading nook. A perfect spot for their drink, but they’ll also love how unique these are. These are handmade and come complete with a wrap, ready for gift giving.
Each book candle has it’s own signature smell that relates to the book. The Great Gatsby features gin, juniper and daisy, To Kill a Mockingbird is Mint Sweet Tea and Catcher in the Rye is Bourbon and Tobacco Flower. The labels are also made to look like library checkout cards!
Another perfect item to cozy up their reading nook is one of these library card throw pillows. Again, this is a great gift for those folks who can still remember what a library card looked like!
Help them rep some of the most famous literary quotes with these literary tattoos. Besides famous quotes, it also includes reading mantras, pretty art and odes to punctuation.
For the literary person on your list who is serious about reading the classics, get them this scratch off reading list. As they read each book, they can scratch it off on the poster to reveal an image.
This book about books features literally 1,000 books to read and why you should read them. It includes genres from fiction, children’s, poetry, science fiction and just about everything else under the sun. Find it here.
For the Person Who Doesn’t Know What Rain on a Tin Roof Sounds Like
If you’ve got someone on your list who needs to fall in the love with the South, get him or her a Rick Bragg book. He’s written my favorite books about the south. A good place to start is with My Southern Journey – short personal narratives he’s written throughout his writing career. If you think they’re ready to jump right on in though, get them his All Over But the Shoutin’ book. I am also a big fan of Once There Was a Farm. This book goes farther back than Bragg’s and recounts the stories of growing up on a farm in the 1920’s and 30’s with just Dabney’s mother running the farm. It’s not a very well known book, but I discovered it about 12 or 13 years ago and have read it countless times since.
If memoirs and non-fiction isn’t their thing, but you still think they need a good education about the South, then get them a Pat Conroy book. Any Pat Conroy book will do, however I am partial to South of Broad as it was the first I read of his and I fell hard. And even if you don’t think they would like books about the South or they know all about it, but they’ve never picked up a Pat Conroy book, then change that now. Bless their souls, what is wrong with them?
I haven’t read either of these before, but reading the synopsis, both are getting added to my to-read list. Sometimes we just need a good laugh and to know that we aren’t alone in the world when we’re in a dressing room staring at our reflection in the mirror wondering what in the hell went wrong. Both of these books will aid in that.
These are a few of my all-time favorite ghost stories. The first two, Four and Twenty Blackbirds and The House on Tradd Street are actually the first in a series of books. I’ve read Four and Twenty Blackbirds a few times now as well as its follow-up books. It mixes history with voodoo and of course, a good family secret or two. The House on Tradd Street is set in Charleston, South Carolina and again mixes some history in there, complete with an old house (which I’m a sucker for) that holds a few secrets. The Family Plot is written by the same author of Four and Twenty Blackbirds and is one of her newer books. Again, it’s set in an old house that’s been abandoned for years and is now being stripped of its “good stuff” before it’s demolished. However, the house is haunted – and not with the good kinds of ghosts.
Both of these books have a good bit of historical fiction weaved into them. Before We Were Yours goes back and forth between present day and the 1930s and creates a historical fiction story from the Georgia Tann scandal in the 1930s when children were being kidnapped from their parents and then sold via her “adoption agency” to families all over the country – an amazing read, y’all. Definitely one of my favorites to date. Spinning the Moon is actually two books in one by one of my favorite authors, Karen White. One novel is set during the Civil War and the other during Reconstruction. Both books are excellent reads and its even better because it is two stories in one book!
These are for the people who are all about empowering females. Bad Girls Throughout History chronicles the lives of 100 revolutionary women from all walks of life including Joan Jett to Marie Curie. Becoming is Michelle Obama’s much anticipated memoir. And finally, Notorious RBG is about the one and only Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whom I consider to be one of the most inspirational women ever. In a nutshell, this book tells the story of how one small woman has dedicated her life to further gender equality in our country. And she’s still doing it at 85. That’s truly just the tip of the iceberg though – RBG is a force to be reckoned with and there’s no doubt in my mind, females wouldn’t be where we are today without her.
These books are for those parents who need to know that it’s completely ok to not have your shit together. Because really, none of us do and if some of us say we do, we are straight up full of you know what. But Did You Die? is from the same authors of I Just Want to Pee Alone, which was another hilarious foray into the world of bad parenting at it’s best. I’m Sorry. Love, your husband. is parenting from a dad’s view. It will make men feel not alone and make women realize that it’s not just their husbands that are stupid sometimes. 😉 I’m kidding. I Heart My Little A-Holesis just as the book cover says – a bunch of holy-crap moments no one tells you about parenting. We love them, but y’all know they are straight up little a-holes sometimes.

Gifts for Alcohol Lovers
Most people who love their libations often have a preferred poison. So I’m going to break this down into general alcohol gifts and then specific types of liquor related gifts.
A unique decanter is always a great gift for folks who love their libations. I actually have this set and we love it’s fun detail and heavy durability.
Fun cocktail napkins are always a no-fail gift for drinkers on your list. I love the vintage feel these have! At just $5 a pack, you could treat them to both designs.
Another no-fail gift for those of us who love our libations are glass sets. Gorgeous matching sets are something most of us don’t often treat ourselves to, so they make great gift ideas!
An ice bucket is always a great addition to their bar! This one comes with a coordinating gold lid and ice tongs. They can use it to chill a bottle of wine or for ice for mixing up cocktails!

Treat them to a monthly box of wine or a few select specialty wines from Firstleaf. Don’t think this one will set you back a lot – most all the wines are less than $20 a bottle.
Presentation is key. Gift that special bottle of wine clad in a British soldier’s uniform, a bullfighter or frenchman. Everyone will get a giggle out of it!

If you have a friend who is all about cocktail hour, then they will love diving into this vintage cocktails book and whipping up a few new-to-them drinks.
Also for the person who loves mixing drinks is this bar caddy dispenser. They can load it up with four of their favorite liquors and pour the perfect shot every time.
Serious about their whiskey? Get them this personalized whiskey barrel. If they like to get creative, you can get them the barrel with a whiskey making kit.
If you have a friend that loves tequila and/or margaritas, then this colored margarita salt would be a fun gift for them. You can get the entire set or individual colors.

Truth. They everywhere, y’all. Give them a blessing every time they go to wash their hands with this humorous soap dispenser. It’s only $15 – I’m willing to bet you’ll find some other great gifts from the store I found this little gem at as well.
The gift that gives only your BFF a good laugh, but everyone that comes near their car on a hot sunny day. I feel like this might become a backdrop for many selfies as well.
Hands down, one of the funniest gifts I’ve ever purchased. I came across these candles last year at a local store and probably stood in front of them for an hour reading every one of them and trying to decide which was best for a couple of my friends. And yes, these candles do actually smell really good – they aren’t just funny.
I mean folks, it’s all the Golden Girls on altar candles. Do I need to elaborate? I think not. You can get this set of all four GGs for $38 – keep one for yourself and give the other three to your three best friends. Picture it. Christmas. 2018. <—See what I did there. If you didn’t, we can’t be friends. #sorrynotsorry

This cat bookmark makes a great unique gift for those cat lovers on your list or even those who are interested in Egyptian art, as this bookmark is based off an ancient Egyptian sculpture.
These fantastic little pens are – wait for it – a whopping $5. These are great gifts for friends, co-workers, teachers and make great stocking stuffers for kids too! The detail on these is very impressive.
Maybe it’s the Southern girl in me, or my love of fresh flowers, but personally, I don’t think you can ever go wrong with gifting a great vase. And that’s exactly what this one is – along with a great price!
I think the same is true of a good picture frame. These always make a great gift and especially in an age where most of our photos live in our phone – we need to print those out and enjoy them more!
This book was in the hotel we stayed at in New Orleans and I can’t tell you much I enjoyed flipping through it – perfect for us 80’s and 90’s kids! Definitely takes you on a trip down memory lane!

These are all gift ideas that keep on giving throughout the year.
Magazine subscriptions are usually the most thought of “gifts that keep giving” holiday gifts – and those are great options! What about a different gift that keeps on giving though?
I’ve got two different types of gifts that keep on giving here:
Practical, useful gifts that the gift recipeient will find themselves using over and over again.
Subscription Gift Boxes (some really unique ones!) that they’ll be surprised to get throughout the year!

A Gift that Keeps on Giving
Useful Gifts They’ll Soon Find They Can’t Live Without
For the overworked friend on your list, give them this neck wrap. This wrap pulls double duty – you can microwave it for a warm wrap or stick it in the freezer to use as a cold wrap. It also boasts a soothing lavender and chamomile scent.
If you really want to spoil them, give them this mask set to go along with that neck wrap. I’m a skincare junkie and these are some of my most favorite tried and true face masks right here at a great value – only $19 for the set!
Being a person who loves gifting, I adore the idea behind this plate. It doesn’t actually belong to any one person. The idea is to gift it to someone, full of sweet goodies of course, then they’ll fill it back up and pass it along to someone else. Beautiful, right? It’s a great way to get kids in a “giving” state of mind as well!
Speaking of cooking up yummy dishes, one of my favorite kinds of gifts that keep giving is great cookware! You can never go wrong with a good dutch oven – I use mine all. the. time. These things are so versatile. Make it even more special by giving them a tried and true recipe to go along with the cookware!
This one is perfect for the younger folks on your holiday gift list! They will love going “old school” taking Polaroids! This set comes with everything they need to get started. You might just have to give them a training session. 😉
Give them the gift of a beautiful front door all year long with this seasonal wreath subscription. With the start of each new season, they’ll be greeted by a gorgeous new wreath to go along with it.
One of the best gifts you can give someone is the gift of learning something new – so how about a language? At Rosetta Stone, you can purchase a subscription to gift someone. This is great for people who love to travel the world or just always wanted to learn a new language.
The gift of personal finance planning! There’s no better time to get on track with your budget than right before a new year. This financial planner will help your recipient start and stay strong in their spending, savings and more throughout the upcoming new year.
If they have yet to buy themselves a YETI, do it for them now. We even have lowball YETIs for our cocktails. These suckers keep cold drinks cold for hours and vice versa for hot drinks. They even have YETI coffee mugs now if that would better fit your gift recipient.
Are they a wine lover? This wine tote is something they’ll be able to reuse over and over again. This tote is perfect for them to load up their favorite wines to take to BYOB restaurants, a picnic in the park or parties!
Not your regular necklace! Beauty and functionality merge perfectly together in this magnifying pendant necklace! Perfect for ladies who have trouble reading small print and could benefit from a handy little magnifying glass posing as a pretty necklace around their neck. The reviews on this necklace are fantastic as well.
I am the queen of forgetting to defrost meat. And never once have I ever successfully been able to use my microwave to defrost either. To those of you who have actually figured out how to properly use those settings, my hat is off to you. For the rest of us, there’s this defrosting mat.
On top of the beautiful detailing this pocket knife sports, you can also have it engraved with the gift recipient’s initials. This knife from Things Remembered is both special and useful. It has great reviews as well! Any guy on your list who always carries a knife would love this.
I don’t mind cooking, but I detest the smell that garlic and onions leave behind on my hands. To get rid of those, I run the back of a stainless steel knife along my fingers under the water. Let me just tell you though that this stainless steel soap bar is much safer. This is such a useful item that anyone who cooks often would be appreciative of.
If they have yet to jump on the Firestick train, then go ahead and pull them on board this holiday season. I’ll be the first to say that when Grunt bought us one, I was like, why do we need that? And then I discovered that with this one little thing, I could watch all the television series I’d never gotten to watch before (hello Ally McBeal!) and then re-watch all my favorites (The Sopranos!). And I can also feed my 1970s, 80s and 90s movie addictions.
I am a huge fan of Legacybox. If you’ve been around here for more than a hot second, you know that I am big on preserving those special family memories whether it’s a piece of furniture, a photo or hell, even a bottle of cologne. Legacybox is a service that digitizes all your old family photos, home videos and more. Talk about giving someone a walk down memory lane for the holidays, right?
Never ever discount just how much someone will appreciate a great pair of pajamas. Every year, my in-laws get me a new cozy pair of pjs for Christmas and every year, I wear the heck out of them. These womens pajamas have great reviews and come in a variety of colors and patterns to choose from – same with the men’s!
Subscription Boxes They’ll Love Getting Throughout the Year
I think we all have that one friend who loves sporting trendy and/or cooky socks. A subscription to the Dollar Sock Crew will fit them perfectly. These subscriptions are super affordable too – it is called the Dollar Sock Crew after all! There are loads of different colors, themes, and patterns to choose from as well!
Wine drinker? They will love this gift – a subscription to Firstleaf Wine Club. Choose from red, white, a mix and how often to send a box. This is perfect for those people who love to try new wines, but also great for those who are just jumping into the wine world. Rather just select a few wines to get them? Just visit the Firstleaf store here and do that!
Yes, flowers do “just” die, there’s something special about having fresh flowers in the house. There is just something about them that can lift your spirits a little and bring a smile out of you even on the roughest of days. Bloomsy Box offers flower subscriptions that you can gift to someone on your list. Once more, there are different options to choose from to fit your budget.
Apollo Box is one of my go-to places for gifts. They also offer an Apollo Box Surprise Box that would make a great gift that keeps giving the whole year through. Each month or quarter, the gift recipient receives a box of unique goodies from Apollo Box. There are a few options to choose from when it comes to the subscription box – prices start at $30 for a box with products that are valued up to $50!
These snack subscription boxes from MOUTH come with a variety of 4-5 different snacks which could include a fruit and nut mix, gourmet pickles, popcorn, Indie poptarts and much more. This would be perfect for teens, college students, and bachelors on your gift list! I’m willing to bet grandparents would enjoy this too!
This gift idea is for those super busy people in your life or those people who love to cook and try new foods. Give them the gift of not having to figure out what’s for dinner with a gift card to Blue Apron. They’ll be able to decide what kind of meal and for how many they want to use their gift card for and they will be so grateful that all the heavy lifting was done for them. Personally, we have used Blue Apron before and loved it.
Stitch Fix is perfect for those people who need to treat themselves a little, but rarely have the time to do it. Without ever leaving their sofa, they can have a personal stylist curate an outfit or two just for them. And if they like it, they can sign up to receive a new “fix” every month or however often they wish. Of course, you might not be the best person to nail down the exact style of the person on your gift list, so give them a Stitch Fix gift card. Stitch Fix offers packages for both guys and gals!

Have a happy couple or two on your holiday gift list this year? Sometimes it’s easier to find a perfect gift for the couple, rather than finding something for each of them individually. Here, you’ll find 15+ unique gifts for couples! Trust me, these are some good gifts for couples – I want a few for myself!
While I don’t think my holiday gift list is all that long, others would disagree. Hi, Grunt. Lucky for me though, he just goes with it – he knows gifting is my thing.
There are quite a few people on the list, but it doesn’t always seem like a lot to me. I think part of it is because I tend to look for gifts that would work well for couples on my list and therefore, kill two birds with one stone. I especially do this a lot with aunts and uncles, parents, and close friends.
This gift guide contains some of my favorite holiday gifts for couples. Whether the loving couple is young or old, newly married or married for 30 years, there’s something here that will work perfectly for the both of them.

If they love spending time lounging outdoors with a drink in hand, then these patio recliners are perfect for them. Get this set for only $80! Yes, that’s two chairs for that price – they have great reviews too!
If the couple is more of the cozying up, swinging type, you could opt for this swing/glider instead. It also offers shade for those who prefer to stay out of the sun. It’s still less than $100, has great reviews and comes with the cushions!
Welcome to the future of fire pits. This fire pit burns with very little smoke, so no more smelling like smoke after bonfire nights! It’s also portable, so the couple can take the bonfire with them anytime they want.
Who wouldn’t love to have a Meyer lemon tree just a few steps away? These fragrant beauties grow indoors in all zones and outdoors in low frost zones. This is one of those gifts they’ll enjoy all year long, for years to come!
This one is great for both newlywed couples or empty nesters! It is possible to cook for two, without having loads of leftovers and stacks of dirty dishes!
For the adventurous couple on your gift list, help them plan their travel bucket list with this great book. It’s full of trip ideas all over the globe!
A nice addition to their kitchen and/or entertaining arsenal…
For the couple who loves a sweet treat and experimenting in the kitchen, give them their own ice cream maker! Just make sure you get invited over for dessert one night!
My uncle calls this the “Cadillac of coffee machines.” He’s right. I recently got one of these and love whipping up my own coffeehouse creations right in my very own kitchen!
Every couple needs a great decanter set. JoyJolt has a wonderful selection of all sorts of drink ware. Their Luna set is my personal favorite with its clean, classic lines.
You’ll also find this one on my gift guide for the person who has everything – a towel warmer is a fantastic gift for so many different types of people! They will love you forever if you get them this one!
I can’t tell you how much the hubs and I both love our Roomba. It has made life just a little less hectic. They will love you for taking something like sweeping and vacuuming off their to-do list!
This one is perfect for couples with kids. They can pull a date night plan right out of the Date Bucket List and then head off to make it happen with their Happy Moments gift card! If you gift babysitting with this one, you’ll get loads of bonus points! 😉
I’m a sucker for a good return address stamp and/or labels. I lean toward stamps because the only thing you could run out of would be ink and that’s reloadable whereas you would always have to buy more labels. This return address stamp is simple, classic and one that any couple would appreciate it – especially when they are putting their return address on all those holiday cards!
When I stumbled upon this Christmas ornament, it was a laugh out loud moment! This isn’t one of your sappy, all in love, first Christmas ornaments. It’s much better than that! This first Christmas spooning ornament is perfect for of course, newlyweds! If they’ve been together for a while, you could opt for this spoon that says Spooning Since and then their wedding date.
I love this gift idea for a favorite couple! A doormat that looks like those mixtapes which defined your life during the 80’s and 90’s – need I say more? Have it personalized with the couple’s name or their song.
While it is a cutting board, this is also a perfect charcuterie board, thus perfect for couples who entertain. Have it personalized with their name, monogram or whatever you like. I love the slate inlay it has – it gives a nice contrast to the wood.
Help them mark their territory in style with this family name and house number plaque. It is fully customizable – you can even choose from over 15 different color combinations. If they might move around, then go with a family name sign that they could take with them wherever they go.
Horseshoes are a symbol of good luck. Anytime I find them around the farm, I throw them up on the nearest random nail whether it’s on the house or in the toolshed. I figure you can’t ever have too many ways to get luck on your side. You can have this horseshoe customized with different wording options and different ribbon colors.
Wines are perfect for couples, both young and old. If they are young, chances are, they aren’t going to often splurge on a bottle of good wine. Do the spoiling and splurging for them! Buy them a few unique wines from Firstleaf or get them a membership to the Firstleaf Wine Club where they will receive a few bottles picked especially for them however often you decide.
How about some cheese to go with that wine? If they are foodies or enjoy some great cheese to go with their wine or snacking, this gourmet cheese crate is a great gift idea for couples. It comes with four different cheeses as well as dried fruits and mixed nuts. Paired with the wine gift, this could create the perfect date night at home!
Will a dynamic duo in your life be getting one of these couples gifts?

Then they will love getting one of these gifts for creative people! These gifts will continue to foster their creativity and for that, they will love you forever. Here’s to the artsy people in your life!
I started doing a gift guide for creatives last year. You know those ones who can take nearly nothing or what you would have considered garbage and turn it into one of the most beautiful things you’ve ever seen in your life? Yep, this list of gift ideas is geared toward those people.
I’ve left some of the creative gifts from last year on the list (because they were too good not too!), but I’ve also added in more gift options to help you find the perfect gift for those artistic people on your list this holiday season.

Give a nod to their artistic abilities with this quaint little palette ornament. This is one of those gifts that you truly can’t go wrong with – everyone loves an ornament that expresses them!
Am I the only one who seems to get great ideas in the shower, but then forget them as soon as I get out? 🙄 This notepad solves that problem! They’ll have a place to jot their idea down right then!
Not only will they love this bag for it’s message, but they will also be able to easily transport their crafting supplies wherever they go! They’ll sparkle just carrying it.
Just like writers with writer’s block, we creatives often hit creative blocks – and that’s where this book comes in! It will help to get their creative juices flowing again!
It’s true – usually if you’re in the midst of a fantastic creative span, there won’t be a thing around you that will be neat and tidy. This shirt will validate their not-so-neatness.
This little tray will be the perfect bedside tray for the artsy person in your life. It can catch their jewelry or loose change at the end of the day, keeping it all corralled – making their lives a little neater.
Another artist palette tray option here, but this one for entertaining! This is sure to add some color and interest to their dinner party – even though those creatives tend to always be interesting. 😃
I mean, can you ever go wrong with a Bob Ross themed gift? The answer is no. Never. If they’re fun-loving and into game nights, snag them the Happy Little Accidents game. If pretty pictures are more their thing, go for the coffee table book.
Talk about the most interesting pair of salt and pepper shakers! Any creative soul will appreciate these! The shakers even replicate Van Gogh’s ear he cut off.
This is the perfect way to help the painter in your life express themselves through jewelry! This is a three piece set so they can opt to wear the palette and a brush or just the brushes!
Who better to think about and potentially gain inspiration from while drinking their morning cup of joe than some of the greatest artists of all time? Whether they’re a painter, photographer, sculptor or any other kind of artist, they’ll appreciate one of these mugs. Any of the mugs will only set you back $25. Also, did I mention these are from The MET. Yes, as in the one and only Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC – you know you’re getting quality here.
This guide to hand lettering is a hands-on workbook that teaches how to create beautiful script, starting with the basics. If you’ve seen your gift recipient fawning over hand lettering artwork that’s popular right now, this would be the perfect gift for them! Besides letters, Hand Lettering 101 also covers learning how to write fancy numbers!
As a somewhat crafty person myself, I can say with confidence that there isn’t a creative soul on this planet who wouldn’t appreciate and couldn’t use more storage for their crafting supplies. This one has handy pull out compartments, so they could just pull out one of the compartments if they wanted or they could pick up the handle of the whole thing and go to work.
Here’s one that’s perfect for artists and color lovers! This color wheel necklace will allow them to show off their love of color! And since it has every color – it’s going to match whatever they wear! This necklace is another gift that’s less than $20!
Another for the colorful creatives on your list, they would adore this color wheel umbrella! Heck, I think even non-creative people would love this umbrella – it can brighten up the dreariest of days!
Treat them to a new set of colorful brush marker pens! The great thing about these markers is that they are dual tipped – there’s a fine point end and brush end. They are great for calligraphy and hand lettering but also perfect for adult coloring books and creating general art. These markers come with over 60 colors.
This is a really cool art kit! You put any object on the included paper, expose it to sunlight, then rinse with water to get unique blue prints. You can literally use anything on the paper, so the possibilities are endless! This solar photography kit is also a great buy – $15! Any creative person and kids would love this one too!!

Being from and living in the South, I can appreciate a good monogrammed or personalized gift. You know us Southern girls – we’ll throw a monogram on just about anything we can!
I love giving personalized gifts for Christmas because they are are both unique and meaningful. Don’t get me wrong, I also love giving useful gifts and gifts that will spoil the gift recipient a bit too.
If it wasn’t already obvious, I’m a lover of all kinds of gift giving.
I’ve compiled a list here of unique personalized gifts for him, her, kids, couples and also personalized gifts that are under $25. And don’t worry, not every gift on here has to be personalized with a monogram – I’ve got some variety for ya! Either way, these gift options will show the gift recipient that you really went the extra mile for them.

I love the not-so-fancy feel of this personalized necklace from What on Earth. The key adds a special touch without it being too “froo-froo,” shall we say? This item would be a special gift for a guy or gal! It doesn’t have to be personalized with just initials either! You can also customize it with a word.
This one is for those gals in your life who love a touch of color and a fun tassel. I can’t think of many gals on my own gift list who wouldn’t like one of these! Customize it with their name, monogram or a word of your choice.
P.S. – What on Earth (where the key necklace is from) is a new-to-me store I discovered this year and I absolutely love them! They are a great source for unique gifts!
Personalized gifts don’t always have to sport a name! Make a gift personal by giving them something that nods to their home state or one of their favorite states to visit! These mugs do a fantastic job of depicting characteristics of each of the 50 states and at only $6 a piece, they are a steal!
Another great out-of-the-box personalized gift here – a horoscope necklace! Each necklace sports a pull-out bar that is inscribed with their sign and three characteristics of that sign. The sleek style of this necklace would work with just about anyone’s personal style.
These little gems are great for keeping a comfortable grip on your phone and now you can get a customized one with a photo of your choosing on it! How fun is that? As you can see from the photo above, these are perfect for pet lovers!
For the more rugged guy or gal on your list that isn’t into all that bling, here’s a great gift option that’s still sentimental – a personalized leather bracelet. You can decide what message to put on it and if it just goes on the inside of the bracelet or outside!
This flask can be customized in a variety of ways. Opt for the monogram shown above (my personal favorite) or have the monogram put into a different style, font, single initial, their name and more.
This keychain is less than $10 and can be customized with any coordinates you want. This is a great gift for a kiddo who’s about to fly the coop or for a friend who is moving away.
You can get one of these State Tie Bars starting at $15. Opt for the gift recipient’s home state or maybe the state where they went to college. You can also put a personalized hidden message on the back of this tie bar.
One of these leather monogrammed bracelets will set you back about $23. I love how the leather paired with the fancy monogram creates a kind of leather and lace feel. Does that make any sense at all?
I love Turkish towels because they are great bath, beach and pool towels. They’re even better when they come with a gorgeous monogram on them! This one is only $27 and comes in a variety of colors and monogram styles.
This is such a fun gift for kids! Even I want a set of crayons that spell out my name! The multi-colored effect these sport will always leave them creating colorful masterpieces as well!
My kiddo actually got one of these books last year and she loved it. It puts your kid right there in the story! And they think it’s so cool that there’s a book written all about them!
Fun meets learning with this one! This gift is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers on your gift list. They’ll learn letters and how to spell their name at the same time!
This ammo box is a real, used military ammo box. It might have a few scratches and dings, but that will only add to the character. This is a great gift that can perform double duty by giving your gift recipient a great place to store special mementos instead of that falling apart shoe box they are currently using.
Help the man in your life remember where they put their wallet and keys with this striped and initialed valet tray. Monogramming is included for free and you can choose from the green and navy stripe or a navy and white stripe for a more nautical look.
If they are a bit on the rugged side, this wood watch might be the perfect gift for them. You can have it personalized with their initials on the clock face and then with something else, if you prefer, on the back.
How about giving them a great place to store their watch, tie clips, cuff links and everything else they typically just throw on top of the dresser? This watch box (a male’s version of a jewelry boxes 😆) can be personalized with their initials and even comes with a key.
Leather wallets are always a great gift for any guy on your list. This one will keep him from having bulky pockets, while still holding his cash and cards. Get it personalized with his initials as well.
A shiny monogrammed tie bar and matching cuff links will never go out of style and will always keep him looking sharp. You can get this entire set for right around $30.
Monogrammed Gifts for Her
A few personalized gifts for the women in your life…
This is the tote that will work with any outfit and any style. The classic faux leather style will never date. It can work as an everyday handbag, for work, running errands and more.
I love this take on birthstone rings. This is a perfect gift for any moms on your list and even if she has 6 kids – these rings will still stack beautifully together on her finger!
I adore this monogrammed tissue box cover and officially want one for every single box of tissues in my house. You can choose from different materials, monogram fonts and colors.
This canteen is perfect for those gals who are always taking their water or coffee with them. It keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours or drinks hot for up to 12 hours. Have this canteen personalized with a special message, a person’s name or monogram!
I love this take on state necklaces. This is a perfect gift for those gals who like to keep reminders of home close at heart. You can choose the color of leather the heart is wrapped in as well.
These monogrammed cocktail napkins will never go out of style. Just as with the tissue box cover, you can choose from different colors of napkins as well as styles and colors of monograms!
This one is perfect for younger and older couples alike! It makes a great gift for new couples celebrating their first Christmas together or for older couples to remind them of all the years they’ve spent together.
Call me old school, but I adore a wax seal on an envelope. Treat a couple on your list to one of these wax seal gift sets. Customize it with their monogram or initials! Lots of different styles to choose from!
Now this one is really cool. Select a date that’s special to the couple on your list (wedding date, first time they met, a child’s birth, etc.) then have this art made that depicts exactly what the sky looked like on that day!
You guys know I’m all about giving a nod to special homes whenever I can. This is of course perfect for folks who’ve just purchased a new home, but putting a picture of their first home on it would also make a great gift!
Don’t give this gift without a box of tissues. Write a letter to someone special on your holiday list and then have it put on a blanket where they can literally wrap themselves up with your words.
You’ve seen the cutting boards with the handwritten recipes on them, here’s the platter version. Honestly, I think this one might get more use than the cutting board. Let’s be honest, most of us wouldn’t feel too good about cutting into Grandma’s recipe.
This engraved handwriting bracelet might cause the gift recipient to need a tissue or two after they open it. With this bracelet, you can send in real, actual handwriting and have it put onto a bracelet. This is perfect for someone who has lost someone close to them recently or for mamas and daddies to have their handwriting put on a bracelet for a teenager whose about to leave the nest.
Will you be getting anyone on your list a personalized gift this holiday season?
I hope this list helps you find the perfect item just for them!

Free Printable Christmas List Template
It’s simple, but functional with a touch of pretty.
There are sections for writing each gift recipient’s name, their interests to spark ideas, a place to write those ideas, gift budget and the gift purchased.
There’s room for five folks on the printable, so just print as many copies as you’ll need to write down everyone on your gift list. I like to give myself plenty of room to brainstorm for gift giving, thus why only five people to a page. 🙂

If you want to wow guests with your Halloween decor, but don’t have a lot of time or money, then these Halloween decoration ideas are for you! Who said cheap Halloween decorations can’t be fab too?!
We just got back from spending a few days in New Orleans and that only put me more in the Halloween spirit. I love New Orleans all the time – it’s my favorite – but being down there during October with everyone getting into the Halloween spirit was a real treat.
This was the Circus’ first trip to New Orleans and she has now proclaimed it her favorite as well. I can now consider my parenting style a complete success. 🙂
I haven’t had time to photograph the whole house for Halloween and share all our Halloween decorations, but I was able to snap a few favorite scenes and setups around the house.
My Halloween decoration ideas are easy to copy and/or put your own unique twist on. So many of my decorations have either been DIYed, thrift store finds or twists on Dollar Tree halloween items, so they are really affordable too.

Cheap Halloween Decorations
1. Create a Witch’s Workspace
This is always one of my most favorite parts of decorating for Halloween – creating a space for the house witch to mix up her potions.
I clean off my bar cart for this, throw creepy cloth and candles about and lots of skulls. And don’t forget the witch’s broom, of course – here’s how I made that one above.
Of course, potions are a must as well. Grab these free printable potion labels to adorn your own potion bottles. For the actual bottles, I have these and a few ones I’ve found at thrift stores as well. Just always be on the lookout for creepy/older looking glass bottles.
2. Put skulls anyplace you can stick ’em.
You may have noticed the mounded skulls coming out of my champagne bucket on the witch’s table. I love to use my “everyday” decor and even serving pieces during this time of year and fill them up with creepy skulls or other Halloween items.
No reason to spend a fortune here. Most all my skulls are from the Dollar Tree.
Just having them peek out in random spots throughout the house is always fun.
P.S. Don’t worry about polishing all that brass and silver – it looks creepier with a little tarnish!
This year I put one up in between two windows using a command strip. It looks down on us as we’re eating dinner. 😆
3. Pull out all your candles.
Literally. Pull out every single candle you own and put them all around your house. Grouped together or solo, they add an instant Halloween feel to a space.
Again, don’t worry with polishing the candlestick holders!
4. And then embellish those candles.
I found this fantastic washi tape this Halloween season and snatched it up as fast as I could. I cut out single eyes and placed them on a few candles throughout my decor. The tape is also great for embellishing books, trays, etc. for the season.
This stuff instantly makes anything Halloween ready. I like to drape it over tables to create a spooky base and then layer on more Halloween decor.
I also like to put it over things that I want to keep close at hand – liquor – but want to spook up a bit. 🙂
6. Load up on creepy “beings.”
Throughout the year, I’m always on the hunt for anything that would work well in my Halloween decor – ok, basically any seasonal decor. 😂
The pumpkin man and mummy were both yard sale finds. They work great on my witch’s table.
Of course, no witch is complete without her black cat. This cat was an addition to our Halloween decor courtesy of the Circus.
I made this mohawk lollipop holder several years ago and it always makes an appearance for Halloween. It adds a little punk touch to the decor and the kids love getting suckers out of the “head.”
7. Get regular “beings” in the Halloween spirit.
If it has a head, it’s going to get some form of Halloween treatment around here. This bust got adorned this year with my DIY witch hat.
Both the Buddha and the Staffordshire dog got mini-witch’s hats.
I topped the rest of the busts with witch’s hats and one – with devil horns. 😬
8. Make art spooky.
Again, I like to work with my everyday decor rather than switching everything out. I put a mini-skull over the head of the lady in this art print with a command strip.
I bought a few of these eye picks and stick them anywhere I can. This one is popping out of a flower arrangement.
10. Vintage Halloween cut-outs are the best.
If you can get your hands on vintage or vintage-style Halloween cutouts, snatch them up. They are THE best for creepy Halloween decor. I have a couple that belong to my husband’s grandparents and I adore them. My father-in-law remembers his mom hanging them up when they were young, so these are pretty special to us. Fun fact: this one still has the price tag on the back of it – a whopping $0.09!This set isn’t vintage, but it has a vintage feel and I like them as well.
11. Be on the hunt for weathered or old looking books all year long.
While the book above may look old, it’s actually new and a yard sale find! Works perfect for Halloween!
12. Elevate with books and candleholders.
Speaking of books – I like to use them all over during Halloween and really anytime in general to elevate other items.
Sometimes I leave them as is and sometimes, I cover them with creepy cloth….
I stacked lots of books together here and covered with creepy cloth to elevate the DIY ampersand pumpkin and give it more of a presence.
I will also use spare candleholders to elevate smaller items like these little Halloween heads or even mini pumpkins.
13. Create a psychic / fortune telling table.
This year, I transformed my coffee table into a creepy fortune telling space.
I layered on creepy cloth, a few candles in varying heights, my skull tree and the “tools of the trade”…
This is one of my favorite scenes this year and Grunt loves it too.
14. Toss Witch’s Brooms wherever you can.
I think it’s looks a little more authentic if you just lean them up against walls in random locations – kind of like the witch just walked in and dropped her broom. Tutorial for these witch’s brooms is here.
15. Don’t forget the spell book.
In this girl’s opinion, Halloween isn’t complete without a spell book! Grab an old book and this printable spell book cover to create your own!
16. Flowers are for Halloween too….
Creepy flowers anyway – and lots of black leaves and bright filler picks. 🙂
Create this skull vase by carving out the back of a styrofoam skull and placing the vase within the cut-out section.
17. Embellish basic skulls.
A super simple trick I’ve been doing for years is buying skulls from the Dollar Tree and then dressing them up just a bit with glitter and/or spray paint. On the one above, I simply added purple glitter to his eyes for a touch of glam.
I’ve also upgraded skulls by painting them and then placing them on candlestick holders with hot glue – tutorial for that here.
18. Hang something from above…
I love to hang Halloween decor from the ceiling whenever I can. This creepy guy – another thrift store find – is hanging from the chandelier right when you enter our front door.

3 Ways to add Halloween to Your Fall Decor
I don’t really do any decorating for just fall. My “fall” decor is my Halloween decor. 😂 I just found that when I went to go put up my Halloween decorations I was always having to put away lots of my fall decor because the two didn’t work together. However, Brendt from She Gave it a Go is a pro at effortlessly mixing the two together. I love her ideas for adding Halloween style to your fall decor – some just as simple as using key colors! Read about her Halloween-Fall Decor Ideas here.
Fun Halloween Porch
So I really stepped my outdoor halloween decorating game up this year. I can’t wait to show ya’ll, but in the meantime I’ve got a couple other gal’s outdoor halloween decor to give you some ideas. I love this fun Halloween porch from Kelly at The Tattered Pew. It has just the perfect amount of spook, but it also has a super fun Halloween feel that any trick-or-treaters are going to love walking up to!
Frightful Front Porch
Merichelle from We’re the Joneses went with a chic, modern Halloween decor feel on her Halloween porch. It’s definitely spooky with lots of black, but the shiny black tones add a glam feel and the punches of purple take it to the next level. I don’t think there’s a witch who wouldn’t mind “sitting a spell” here.
Now plot out your plan of attack and get your house Halloween ready!
Keep up with our Halloween shenanigans on social media:
Something’s brewing! And it only takes five minutes to whip up! Add a witch’s touch to your Halloween decorations with this glowing cauldron!
You know what I love?
Something that can pull double duty.
And in it’s time, this pot has done a fantastic job of pulling double duty.
While we don’t know it’s age for sure, but we’re guessing closer to 100 years than not, it’s produced cracklins, rendered lard, and probably done countless other tasks that are lost with generations who have passed on.
For the last few decades, it was sitting in a basement, and guessing from the tiny shredded pieces of paper found in the bottom of it when I pulled it out, it has also served to keep a mouse or two warm at night. The lengths I will go to for a good Halloween decoration.
Proving it’s double duty value, this Halloween season, the ancient black pot is parading around as a witch’s glowing cauldron.

So cool, right?
How to Make a Cauldron Glow
Materials and Supplies Needed
Cauldron – if you can’t get your hands on the real thing, there are lots of plastic and ceramic ones out at stores right now for Halloween
If you have a cauldron similar in size to mine or larger, you’ll want to fill in the bottom of it with materials to push all the glowing goodness to the top.
I mashed some Target boxes all into mine. Super technical, folks.
Step 2
Arrange the green lights on top of the fillers or in the base of a smaller cauldron.
Step 3
Loosely twirl the tulle around in the pot on top of the lights.
You just want it fluffed in the cauldron. Don’t stuff it down in there.
Don’t serve up Halloween cocktails without these creepy-glam Halloween coasters! Your guests will be impressed, but only you’ll know how easy they were to make using a free printable!
No detail left untouched around here when it comes to Halloween!
I shared the how-to for my Ouija Board Tray the other day for serving drinks up on and today, here are some fantastic Halloween coasters you can make for guests to rest their drink on!

I love how creepy these turned out, yet still have a bit of glam with the floral touches. So, we’ll call them creepy-glam coasters.
You can get the printable from my Printable Library. To access the printable library, you’ll need to be an email subscriber to Rain on a Tin Roof.
If you’re already an email subscriber, go to the Printable Library here and enter the password which you can find at the bottom of the latest email from me, which would most likely be about these coasters. Scroll down until you see the printable coaster images, download and print it using the links.
If you’re not already an email subscriber to Rain on a Tin Roof, simply click here and sign up. After signing up, you’ll receive an email to confirm your subscription. After doing this, you’ll be directed to the Printable Library where you can download the coaster printables and then print.
Printing Notes
The coaster images are made to be printed on standard size 8.5″ x 11″ paper. I suggest using card stock for printing for sturdier images and better color quality.
Step 2
Paint the coasters. I did three coats of spray paint.
Step 3
Cut out the images for the coasters.
The images were made to be slightly bigger than the coasters I used. Depending on the size of your coasters, you may have to trim a bit more or less off the edges. Just hold your coaster over your images and trace around it, then cut it out. No rocket science degree required.
Step 4
Apply Mod Podge onto all the coasters.
Immediately following this, place one of the coaster images on each of the coasters, then put another coat of Mod Podge over the coaster.
Let dry.
Step 5
Apply two more coats of Mod Podge to each coaster. Let dry, then serve up some drinks.
Wickedly good Halloween drinks, that is.
Cheers, witches! 😉
Halloween one of your favorite holidays too? Don’t miss some of my favorite DIY Halloween decorations then:
If you love the spooky feeling a ouija board can add to your Halloween decor, then this is the project for you! This DIY ouija board Halloween tray adds a creepy touch and is also great to use as a serving tray at your Halloween party!
So I got a comment on the blog post about my witch costume the other day from a lady quoting scripture about how the Lord will put an end to witchcraft, fortune tellers, pagan cities and the such.
Folks, it’s the Halloween season. I’m not out here dancing around nude in the dark offering up my soul to the devil. I just love a damn good witch costume and Halloween.
I mean, we all know I need prayer for a whole lot of things but my witch costume and halloween decorations aren’t one of them.
All that being said, this ouija board tray will not be used to summon spirits. And even if I wanted to, I’m not sure the thick coat of Mod Podge I put on the bad boy would even let any spirits through.
This tray however can be seen throughout this glorious Halloween season adorning my coffee table, serving drinks, and just generally satisfying all my Halloween decorating dreams. 😆

Isn’t it spooky? It looks old and creepy and I love it for all that and more.
This tray is easily made using a pre-fab tray, a printable I’ve got for you and a couple other things.
You can get the printable from my Printable Library. To access the printable library, you’ll need to be an email subscriber to Rain on a Tin Roof.
If you’re already an email subscriber, go to the Printable Library here and enter the password which you can find at the bottom of the latest email from me, which would most likely be about this tray. Scroll down until you see the ouija board printable, download and print it using the links.
If you’re not already an email subscriber to Rain on a Tin Roof, simply click here and sign up. After signing up, you’ll receive an email to confirm your subscription. After doing this, you’ll be directed to the Printable Library where you can download the ouija board and then print.
Printing Notes
I used this public domain ouija board image and created two different sizes from it to use for the tray. If you go with the same tray size I used, I would recommend using the 8.5″ x 14″ size that I made. If you go with a smaller tray, you can use the 8.5″ x 11″ size. Both are available for download in my printable library.
Step 2
Paint the tray. I did two coats of spray paint.
Step 3
Cut out the printable.
If you go with the same size tray and printable I used, the printable is going to be longer than the tray. To cut it out, I just placed the printable in the tray, then creased where I should cut.
Now, I am not recommending that you do the next part exactly how I did it. I don’t want none of you coming back and blaming me for burning yourself.
After I cut the printable down some, I burned some of the paper along the edges to give it an authentic spooky Halloween look. Again, I don’t recommend you do this. If you do it, you are doing so at your own risk.
Step 4
Apply a good coat of Mod Podge onto the bottom of the tray, then immediately place the ouija board on top of it.
Apply a coat of Mod Podge over the ouija board.
Let dry, then add 1-2 more coats of Mod Podge. I did three coats total.
As you can see, I had a couple of wrinkles in my paper. I tried to get them out, but failed. However, in the end, I think it just added more to the overall “old” look of the project.
Oooo, I just love it!
Isn’t it so fun for Halloween?
I’m off to give this thing a whirl and see who all I can conjure up!
Just kidding!
Will you be adding this touch of ouija board decor to your Halloween home?
