Hi there! If you’re new here, hopping over from Laura at The Turquoise Home, welcome! I’m thrilled you’re here! Wasn’t Laura’s house a treat? She has a beautiful home, but she’s also such a sweet soul. I hope you enjoy my holiday tour today as well!
Simplicity.
Such an elusive word sometimes, right? When my uncle (the farmer) is debating over buying new equipment or fixing something, I always ask him if it’s going to make life more simple. Usually, the answer is yes and I follow that up with, “Why are we waiting then?”
I’ve come to realize I need to take my own advice more often.
This year, I was itching to dress the knotty pine clad den at the farm up for the holidays. It’s my favorite room in the whole entire world.
And while I had no particular ideas in general for this space, the room itself knew exactly where to go…and it also knew I needed to keep things simple.
So I let it lead me.
I think things just tend to work out better that way.
Flocked Christmas Tree
And if my Pap were still sitting in this room watching Gunsmoke, while he’d shake his head and laugh at his Stetson used as the tree topper, he’d still appreciate the holiday nod to the cowboys.
Flocked Christmas Tree
And while doing a themed tree never would have crossed my Grannie’s mind, her guitar was the inspiration so I think she’d approve.
While I decorated, I listened to good country music and danced a jig or two around the room just like Grannie and I used to do together.
Guitar Ornaments
The tree didn’t get even get lights. All it needed were a few simple ornaments to make it special.
There was no rhyme or reason, but I even pulled out her old typewriter for the season. The spirit just moved me. And I listened because that’s what you do when the spirit talks.
And of course, it worked out perfectly as an anchor for the vintage Christmas cards.
Because this room just knew…
…like it’s always known exactly what I needed and when to wrap me up with its sweet memories.

Wow! I love that tree, cowboy as a tree topper, the guitar and those green chairs had my heart in one glance. I love the knotty pine walls too. My father built our enclosed porch out of knotty pine when I was a young girl. It brings back such wonderful memories. I grew up with the “cowboy movies” and I am still captivated with them at age 78. Grew up on country music too! I haven’t posted before – I found you through Marty. Will definitely be back to read your wonderful blog.

This room proves what Christmas really is. It allows us to be thankful, not only for what we have, but what we have had. A true memory is one that is special to you, even if it isn’t to someone else.
Miriam says
Hi Jenna! Love it all! Would you mind sharing where the green chairs are from? Merry Christmas
Jenna says
Thanks, Miriam! Actually, those chairs were just a Facebook marketplace find that I had reupholstered!
