Have a few people on your gift list that are just spewing with creativity? They’re always coming up with something that just leaves you in awe? Then they will love getting one of these gifts for creative people! These gifts will continue to foster their creativity and for that, they will love you forever.
Before I forget, did you hear about the new Rain on a Tin Roof Facebook group?! It’s our own little community of “Fly Your Freak Flagers”- a place where we can chat about decorating dilemmas, bounce ideas off one another, inspire each other, laugh and in general, just help each other out. If you’re a Rain on a Tin Roof subscriber, you can join! Just click this link and request to be added! Not a Rain on a Tin Roof Subscriber? On to the gift ideas!
Another request this year was a gift guide for creative folks. You know those ones who can take nearly nothing or what you would have considered garbage and turn it into one of the most beautiful things you’ve ever seen in your life? Yep, this list of gift ideas is geared toward those people.

Gift Ideas for Creative People
The Kings of Art on a Mug
Who better to think about and potentially gain inspiration from while drinking their morning cup of joe than some of the greatest artists of all time? Whether they’re a painter, photographer, sculptor or any other kind of artist, they’ll appreciate one of these mugs. Any of the mugs will only set you back $25. Also, did I mention these are from The MET. Yes, as in the one and only Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC – you know you’re getting quality here. While I adore Andy Warhol, I’m quite torn between the Picasso and Van Gogh mugs here. But then again, that eye on Salvador is something else. UPDATE! Today only, you can get 20% off these and anything else from The MET Store using code ADORN!
A place to write down all their great ideas.
Every creative person needs a great notebook to write down all their ideas in. I love these notebooks from Photobook for two reasons:
- You can personalize the notebooks with the person’s name and/or photo.
- You can choose between lined or blank paper. If they’re a sketcher – go with blank so they can draw out their ideas. If they’re more of a writer, go with lined!
If you don’t want to go the photo route, no problem! There are multiple different notebooks you can choose from that don’t need a photo – just add their name to it! This one is another less than $25 gift!
If you’ve got someone your list who likes to paint and create designs, they would probably love some stencils. I first used stencils from Stencil Revolution back in May for projects for the Circus’ birthday party. I was so impressed with the quality of the stencils. On top of that, I think Stencil Revolution has more unique and different stencils than other ones I’ve seen around.
To go along with those stencils, how about some paint? It’s no secret that I love Velvet Finishes paint because of how easy it is to use and versatile it is. You can use it for small projects like stencils, but it’s perfect for furniture makeovers as well and I’ve even used it to paint my cabinets before! A few of my personal favorite colors are Baroque, Tranquil and Glamorous. Velvet Finishes paintbrushes are also top notch – they help the paint go on flawlessly without hardly any brushstrokes left behind. Use code JENNA20 to get 20% off anything at Velvet Finishes this holiday season!
If you’ve got a colorful creative on your list, they would adore this color wheel umbrella! Heck, I think even non-creative people would love this umbrella – it can brighten up the dreariest of days! It’s a good sized umbrella too, so it can fit a few people under it and it has really great reviews too!
Dual Tip Brush Marker Pens
Treat them to a new set of colorful brush marker pens! The great thing about these markers is that they are dual tipped – there’s a fine point end and brush end. They are great for calligraphy and hand lettering but also perfect for adult coloring books and creating general art. These markers come with over 60 colors for $20 – so it’s a great deal too!
Craft Supply Storage
As a somewhat crafty person myself, I can say with confidence that there isn’t a creative soul on this planet who wouldn’t appreciate and couldn’t use more storage for their crafting supplies. This one has handy pull out compartments, so they could just pull out one of the compartments if they wanted or they could pick up the handle of the whole thing and go to work.
Adult Coloring Books
I am continually amazed at how adult coloring books just keep getting better and better. After you color one of these, they are literally instant wall art. You could pop them in a frame and no one would ever know that you didn’t pay a fortune for it. These adult coloring books from Photobook are some of the best I’ve ever seen. My personal favorites are the Ocean Animal Patterns and the Fashion Forward. With these, the gift recipient also isn’t limited to colored pencils – they could also use watercolors, markers or whatever floats their boat to color the pages! On top of that, you can even personalize the coloring book with their name and a special message from you. These would also be great for those creative tweens and teens in your life!! See the entire selection here.
Help them learn a new skill.
This guide to hand lettering is a hands-on workbook that teaches how to create beautiful script, starting with the basics. If you’ve seen your gift recipient fawning over hand lettering artwork that’s popular right now, this would be the perfect gift for them! Besides letters, Hand Lettering 101 also covers learning how to write fancy numbers!
Cute and Clever Yarn Bowl
If you have someone on your gift list who does crochet or knitting, then a cute and very handy yarn bowl is a great gift for them! This is something they can always leave out on their side table or nightstand without it sticking out like a sore thumb like just a ball of yarn might do. On top of that, it’s a very functional gift. If they’re more of a colorful person, go with the unicorn bowl. If they are more of a nature, subdued color kind of person, go with the cat one.
If you’ve got a builder or someone who has a love for Legos on your gift list, this is the mug for them! They can construct a masterpiece all while having their morning coffee. This mug works with not only Legos but various other types of building blocks and comes with some as well!
The Ultimate Guide to Color
This book takes a deep look at colors that have been pivotal to art and graphic design. It details the history and cultural references to each with examples of how the colors have been used over time. If you take a look at the inside of this book, you’ll see gorgeous works of art where the key colors have been used. This book is especially great for people on your list who love graphic design, but also photography and painting.
Solar Photography Kit
This is a really cool art kit! You put any object on the included paper, expose it to sunlight, then rinse with water to get unique blue prints. You can literally use anything on the paper, so the possibilities are endless! This solar photography kit is also a great buy – $15! Kids would love this one too!!
Another one here that’s perfect for artists and color lovers! This color wheel necklace will allow them to show off their love of color! And since it has every color – it’s going to match whatever they wear! This necklace is another gift that’s less than $25 and has great reviews!
The Ultimate Crafting Tool
This is the priciest thing on this list of gifts for creative people, but it is also the ultimate tool for crafters and creatives. If they don’t have one of these, there’s no doubt in my mind they would love it. The Cricut Explore can cut just about anything including vinyl, card stock, faux leather, foils, poster board and more. What that translates to is that they could make their own graphic t-shirts, their own greeting cards, wall art, signs and just about anything else under the sun.
That’s a wrap for this gift guide!
