Have a music lover on your holiday gift list? Someone who lives and breathes music? Being that kind of person myself, I can say with confidence that one of these music gifts is going to be the perfect gift for that person. Whether they love rock, country, or something else, this list of music gift…
Who doesn’t love Reba McEntire’s song, Fancy? Seriously, y’all. It’s a total classic. My little five year old self would literally sit in front of the television watching TNN (The Nashville Network) back in the day before heading to school just praying to see the Fancy video. And honestly, if you don’t like it, I…
Need a Christmas tree skirt but don’t want to settle for the boring options at the store? Then make your own DIY tree skirt using vinyl records! It’s so easy and unique! A few years ago I was asked to decorate a tree in the theme of a wish – a wish from Lauren, who…
I know what you are thinking.
You are wondering why the girl who throws stuffed animals, barbies, G.I. Joes, glasses, and shoes on her Christmas tree is posting about a Grammy Themed Christmas tree – one that is color coordinated with not a stuffed animal in sight.
A few months back, Dana & Nancy from Forest Home Media in Nashville contacted me. They wanted me to decorate a tree in the theme of a child’s wish – a child that is braver than I ever could be, fighting for their life. Afterwards, the tree would be auctioned off and proceeds would go to Make-A-Wish of Middle Tennessee.
My first thoughts were:
Me? You really want me? Have you seen my Christmas decor? Nothing matches, nothing is themed, its just all a big hot mess that somehow works for us.
But I said yes. Because it was for an amazing cause.
And I started acting like the little engine that could, “I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.”
When Dana sent the email with the list of kids and their wishes, I knew I could.
One of the kids was a girl.
An 18 year old named Lauren, who has Cystic Fibrosis and her wish is to go to the Grammys. She loves music and playing the guitar.
And if there is anything I love as much as decorating, its music – and little girls like Lauren who are braver than I’ll ever be.
