I cannot believe I actually just typed that title, y’all.
We just moved into the 70’s Landing Pad about three weeks ago. By no stretch is the house completed, but the fact that I can actually share a home tour with y’all that doesn’t include a three inch thick layer of dust on the floors is a huge accomplishment for me. There still aren’t curtains in the living room and dining room and things aren’t exactly the way I want them just yet, but that takes time and it is what it is. #reallife #itaintalwayspretty
Today, I’ll share the living room, dining room, hall bathroom and my office as part of the Eclectic Home Tours. Next week, I’ll have the Circus’ bedroom, the master bath and the den for you, so stay tuned. I’ve already revealed the Well Traveled Master Bedroom and if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s here. Don’t miss the rest of the tours in the Eclectic Home Tours either – links are at the end of this post – I promise you won’t be disappointed.
I’m not going to do much talking in this one. Instead, I’ll come back over the next few weeks and share all the details of each space separately and what all we did to each room along with before shots of the rooms when we bought the house. Also there’s the fact that this post is supposed to be published along with everyone else’s on the tour today at 8am EST and I’m just now writing the post at 7:48 AM EST. #storyofmylife
Without further ado, I present to you the semi-finished 70’s Landing Pad.

You have put together so much in such a short time. I love it and can’t wait to see more.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks so much, Marty! It has been a wild ride – I am ready for a break!
Colleen says
Wow. I am amazed by every detail in every room. The old calendars in your office, the cantilever chairs, the brass rocking horse! I want to grab a snack and look through the whole thing again! And I love the 70’s vibe. We don’t see a lot of that!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Colleen! Those calendars were actually left in the garage here and I couldn’t bear to throw them away! The other things you mentioned were all yard sale and thrift finds!!
Julie says
WOW! I could see me going at this speed but not hubby, Take a break and have a beer and your readers will wait for more great things to come! When’s the open house? ha
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Honey, there is a beach vacation in my near future and I NEED it!! An open house – ha!! That means I would have to clean everything all at once and I’m not sure I can do that!
ashley@biggerthanthethreeofus says
I adore your dining room! It’s so bold but welcoming.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thank you Ashley!
jessica says
OMG….I love your home tour and your style. Your style has evolved with every house you have lived in and I appreciate that. Your art is gorgeous and your dining room….jaw dropping
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thank you, Jessica!
Megan says
I love it all! I have been following the rest of the tours this week and knew yours would be great, even though you just moved. And even though I wouldn’t necessarily pick some of the same pieces as you for my house, I still love yours the best. There’s an overall sense of style that you have that shows off your, and your family’s, personality that I just adore. Plus, you have some of the best *special* pieces I’ve ever seen, especially in blogland!!! The “WTF” pillow, the gun bookends, the quotes you use, everything that really makes your house unique and you are just perfect!!!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Oh Megan. Thank you so much. If there’s one thing I believe when it comes to decorating, it’s that your home should reflect your and your family’s personality, likes, etc. To hear you say you see that in my home, means the world to me!!
Stephanie @ Casa Watkins Living says
Fantastic tour Jenna! Wow you’ve done so much already in 3 weeks than I’ve done in 4 years in my house. lol. Love the bold colors.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thank you, Stephanie! I got lucky with a lot of my finds, so it kind of all just worked out!
Dana says
Jenna — you are fearless! Bravo!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Dana! I’ll take that description! 🙂
Marie, Paint It White Interiors says
love it love it love it all… sometimes specific elements or ‘things’ pop out that you pin point and say ‘ooooh I love this or I love that but you got me here…
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks Marie!
Brocanteuserose says
Strikingly gorgeous and amahzing (said in my fancy pants voice) as always. Love the way everything ties together and wow did you get a lot done in such a little amount of time. Can I just say I love the Nancy Drew books on the shelf. I used to read them voraciously as a kid, and I still have my almost complete collection. I was inspired by Nancy to learn how to pick locks, and I used to practice on my grandma’s vintage suitcases. I can’t use a bobby pin in my hair to save my life, but use one to pick the lock on a vintage suitcase and I’m your girl! 🙂
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Ahh, the Nancy Drew books. They were one of my faves too as a kid! I was convinced there were hidden doors, stairways, etc. in every house I went in!! Thank you, girl!
Patty says
Girl you have done an amazing job. That couch, OMG! It is as gorgeous as I remembered, there are so many things that I love, I don’t think I can mention all of them, but you have added beautiful texture like that snake skin rug. You have managed to mix mid century with modern.
The dinning room looks so elegant, I love that rug and the table and chairs,(you lucked-out there) and I still think that print looks like a poodle, once you find the snout, I love it. That bathroom vanity is just beautiful, I love the color I love everything about that BR. Your office is amazing, You mixed it up real good in there, I can see your family treasures, love the colors and again the textures. You won’t mind spending time in there I’m sure.
Like I said there is just to much to mention, but it is all just beautiful, you should be very proud of what you have accomplished and very tired.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Oh thank you so much, Patty! I’m thrilled with how well it has came together and am so glad you like it. I’m so going to sit at that dining room table and find this poodle. I think beer might help! haha!
April Hoff says
Jenna! Your house has come SO far in such an incredibly short amount of time! I think it’s only a matter of time before we see this home in a magazine! You have such an incredible way of putting things together!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
From your lips (or typing fingers anyway) to God’s ears, honey! haha! Thanks!
cassie @ primitive & proper says
i love all of the dark walls in your home- that dining room is amazing!!! and the tiger art- love!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Cassie! That piece of art is one of my favorite things ever!
Sharon says
I’m impressed with how much you’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time! Love the new house, especially the dining room. I was curious how your in-laws like your old digs? They did move in there, right? (I could be totally fabricating that fact.) Anyway, things are looking great!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Sharon! You’re right – they are moving in there! There are some things that are staying – like the navy and white cabinets and other things they are getting rid of – like the confetti wall! haha! I knew they would and that’s totally ok. My style isn’t always their style and that’s completely understandable!
Leilani says
I absolutely love your sense of style. I watch Mad Men on Netflix almost solely to scour the home and office decor of that time period. You’ve done a great job and it will be enjoyable following along on your renovation journey. As a fellow thrifter with similar quirky taste I found every bit of this spectacular. Keep on truckin.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Girl. Anytime I watch shows like that or even old movies from the 60s and 70s, I’m always paying attention to the decor. There has been more than one occasion when I’ve paused the show or movie to take a picture of the TV screen because I saw some piece of decor I loved!
Lisa A. says
I never thought I would say this, but you have single handedly made me want to put every piece of “farm house” antique stuff I own out at the curb and haul your butt to Chicago to help me “make over” my house! I want that dining room set….
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
haha!! I’m totally down for a trip to Chicago! 😉
Pam S says
I need a vision!!! Your’s is wonderful 🙂
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thank you so much, Pam!
KitsyKeelSmith says
Jenna, you are one brave soul. You know what you like and you go for it in a big way. Love all of your color selections and prints, they speak of who you are. My home is more traditional and shabby chic but I can still appreciate your eclectic style.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Kitsy!! I still like a good traditional or shabby chic space too! To each his own!
Shirley says
Jenna your house looks amazing! You have worked so hard & sourced some great pieces. It’s all so you! I am loving the couch, flooring, rugs, closet doors, bathroom vanity unit in fact everything. I laughed when I saw the “WTF” cushion. My daughters friend’s Dad says it all the time. Then they found out he thinks it means “Why that’s fantastic!!! ‘
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thank you, Shirley!! My cousin actually asked me the other day what I would tell the circus when she learned her letters and asked what WTF meant. I told her Why, that’s fantastic! hahaha!!!!
Angela, Blue i Style says
First of all, how have you done so much in such a short time? Second of all, could this space be any cooler? I can just picture the swinging-est party in town happening in your living room, and I’d so want to be invited!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
I’m insane, Angela. Insane!!! And yes, I’m hoping that swinging-est party does happen here!!
Amanda says
I love this so freaking much. Girl. You just keep getting better and better. I hope you find some time to sit down now! You’ve earned it!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Girl, you and me both!!! I. Am. Exhausted. Beach vacation is coming up and this mama needs it.
Charlotte Smith says
I’m LOVING the bold walls… Our house can’t quite pull them off because of the ornate historic molding, but it looks amazing with all your stuff! The calendar pages on the wall might be my favorite little touch… keeping my eyes out next time I hit the flea market. Good luck with the continued move… I’m impressed!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Charlotte!! I am digging how well the dark walls turned out as well! Those calendars were actually left behind by the previous owners in the garage – I couldn’t toss them!
Arielle | Scotch and Nonsense says
Jenna! I’m obsessed. Love your dark colors and if your living and dining rooms look that good unfinished then I can’t wait to see them finished. So, so good!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
hahaha!!! Thanks, Arielle! Here’s hoping I can live up to that!
Jess says
I can’t believe you’ve only been there three weeks! It looks amazing! I love all of your amazing thrifted finds! You make 70’s look SO GOOD! Love it!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Jess!! I really did get lucky with all those finds!! They are once in a lifetime!
Myrna says
Jenna, everything is amazing. Now I see why it’s the 70’s pad. I have dibs on the living room light when you replace it. It’s all I am missing with my 70’s ‘stuff’ Has it been that long since I had major furniture purchases ??
Instead of donating to GoodWill maybe someone will start a blog so we can donate to each other for the price of shipping.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
hahahahaha!!!! Oh Myrna, you are too funny girl! I think your blog idea is GENIUS!!
Michelle Vincent says
I love what you have done! The house looks wonderful. Thank you for having your own style and letting you personality show!! You inspired me 🙂
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thank you, Michelle! I think your house should be a reflection of you and your family and if others don’t like that, well too bad for them! 😉
Kathy says
oooh! Love the moody colors and the art in the living and dining room! You’ve done so much for three weeks. Can’t wait to see before and afters and the rest of the house!
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thank you, Kathy! I just love those art pieces too – they stopped me in my tracks!
Lianna@theresnoplacelikehomemke says

Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, MWB!!
mary ballerin says
I’ve loved your dining room from Day 1 but your bedroom, don’t you adore all that extra space? And the LR … you scored some great vintage finds. I still need to paint my bookcases, I guess that’s the difference between 30 and 60. 😉 Thanks for sharing.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Mary! I really did get lucky in the vintage finds department!!!
