Every once in a while I surprise myself.
If you read my DIY fall decor posts last month, you may recall that I’m not much of a fall decorator.
But, I do love my Halloween decorating.
So, when I was asked to be part of the Falliday Tour of Homes, I was a little intimidated.ย But, I said yes. And instead of stressing out over elaborate fall decor, I went for simple touches and shopped my home for decor.
And like I said, I surprised myself. Shockingly, I don’t think my fall decor turned out that bad. We’ll see what you think.
Without further ado, welcome to my Fall Home Tour!
Let’s start with the open shelving in my kitchen.
I have my “whiteware” displayed there and chose to add some simple mini orange pumpkins to pop against the white. I turned two pieces upside down to act as pedestals.
I filled the white urn on the top shelf with spray painted pine cones.
I strung the glittery fall garland I made from each end and left the ribbon hanging for a casual touch.
I have more whiteware on top of my liquor cabinet.
I did the same thing with it as on the open shelving. Simple pumpkins and golden pinecones.
I am still shocked at just how fabulous thisย Dollar Tree Pumpkin Upcycling project turned out.
And that arrow sign….
I die. I just love it. It came from this Etsy shop.
The entryway has more simple decorations of pumpkins and pine cones.
I love using candlestick holders to elevate pumpkins.
While the gold spray paint was still drying on the pine cones, I sprinkled them with glitter to give them a touch of glam.
And shockingly, I’ve done well at keeping my promise to switch up my chalkboard decor with the seasons.
Notice, though the chalkboard consists of an elementary pumpkin drawing and a word that contains four letters. My chalkboard writing skills have still not improved.
And last but not least, there is my twist on the traditional fall wreath, my DIY Fall Door Decor.
I suppose I did this tour backwards. I should have brought you through the front door first.ย Well, I’m not changing it at this point. I’m sure you don’t mind.
My old fall wreath got into an altercation with the kid.
The wreath lost.
Therefore, new fall door decor was in order and I decided to go with something a little less traditional.
Because, really, when have I ever been traditional?
Hopefully, you thought my fall decorating was satisfactory.
If not, you can come back and see my Halloween decor and be much more impressed. Hopefully.
ย Like what you see?

Lauren @ The Thinking Closet says
Satisfactory? I thought it was AMAZING! And I find your commentary so entertaining, I could listen to you all day, Jenna! I’m drooling over all of your whiteware…I’m thinking I need to start a collection myself. It just looks so good in contrast with those orange pumpkins. And I love your unconventional “wreath” on the front door. I thought it was the perfect finale to an out-of-this-world house tour.
Loved doing this hop with you ladies. I’m so inspired by y’all, it’s not even funny. (So don’t laugh.) ๐
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Oh, Lauren. You certainly know how to boost a gal’s ego! I love my whiteware. I always look for it at thrift and antique stores, but refuse to pay over $5 per piece. Well, unless I REALLY love it. haha!

Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Yes, its a white owl! I just love him! Aren’t pumpkins on candlesticks just the greatest thing? Love it!
Kim says
I love all the simple natural touches! Especially against all of your whiteware. My husband and I just build a new mantle and brought home a bunch of pumpkins. So much inspiration here! The ribbon pumpkins are so cool.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Kim! Oh, I am so jealous of your mantle! That is one thing I so very much wish I had!

Pumpkin love: I’m borrowing that pumpkin atop the candlestick idea! How clever, I haven’t seen that before and my little pumpkins just weren’t getting the notice they deserved.
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Borrow away, Paula! I love that little trick! Simple, but big impact!
Corinna Ashley says
I’m loving every single thing you’ve done! I’m hung up on the liquor cabinet though. Do you have a post showcasing it? While I adore bar carts, It would seem wiser for us to have a cabinet for liquor and liquor accessories ๐ We’ve got quite the curious toddler. I’d love to read more about it!
*hugs & kisses!*
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Thanks, Corinna! I do have a post on when I did the wrapping paper in my liquor cabinet, which is here:
https://rainonatinroof.com/2013/01/diy-cheap-lazy-girls-way-to-add/
I have actually since then switched up the paper and added some other details to the cabinet, so I have another post on it in the works that should go live in November sometime! Be sure to check back for it!
I know what you mean about bar carts, I love them, and actually have one that I am about to make over, but it will have to be somewhere out of reach with the kiddo! Thanks so much for your sweet comment!
Jenn says

JaneEllen says
Gee Jenna, do you think everybody loved your Fall decorations after reading all the comments?. Thought I’d never get to end so I could leave one.
Your decorations are awesome as always. Love everything you did. I might have to “copy” a couple things from your shelves. And your chalkboard? Oh heavens I love how your did the word Fall and the pumpkin, might be having to “borrow” that idea also. Silly girl you always do awesome stuff. Or were you just joshing us? We love ya and you know it. Happy week
Jenna @ Rain on a Tin Roof says
Oh, JaneEllen, you are too sweet! Thank you so much! Copy away! That’s why I’m here! You would be shocked at how long it too me to make that “fall” on the chalkboard! I have terrible chalkboard writing skills! And the reason some letters are in caps and some aren’t is because I just could not make it all look good in either uppercase or lowercase letters! Hope your week has started off great!
