DIY Fall Door Decor: My Take on the Fall Wreath

I heart wreaths.

I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated solely to wreaths.

I still like my fall wreath from the last couple years. Although there was an unfortunate accident with it when the kid got a hold of it.

But, this fall, I was feeling that a little something different was in order.

Enter the Fall Rectangle Wreath.

So, really, I don’t know what to call the damn thing.

A fall rectangle wreath, a fall rectangle, a fall plaque, or just a fall door decoration.

I went back and forth ten times just with the title of this post.

So, call it what you will.

Whatever you call it, I will still love my fall whatever-it-is.

Here’s how I did it:

I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a piece of white foam board, the gray patterned fabric, navy blue patterned ribbon, and the “cardboard L.”

I wanted my fall door decor to have fall colors, but I also wanted it to work well with emerald front door, thus the gray fabric and blue ribbon.

I started by measuring and cutting my fabric to cover the board. Then, I hot-glued it to the back:

I ran the navy ribbon just vertically down the sides of the board. I liked that better than going all around. It made it pop more.

I pulled out the cardboard “L” as well as some glitter pumpkins I had picked up from Michael’s last year and some faux leaves I had stashed away.

I decided the leaves would be best if they were spray painted gold. Imagine that.

I put some leaves and pumpkins in opposite corners of the rectangle, glittered up the L and placed it in the middle. I used the same navy ribbon to hang the rectangle.

I like your Seasonal Vertical Door Banner (just to throw a new name in the mix). I like to see the non-traditional takes on front door decor. Maybe I’ll bust out a Seasonal Trapezoid to decorate my entryway. Maybe…

I love this! I like how you ran the ribbon down just the sides. I (personally) also like the fact that it’s not a traditional wreath. My door currently has nothing on it…I may have to copy your idea! πŸ™‚

Love, love, love! The rectangle is such a clever idea and the navy ribbon really sets it all off against your emerald door. I’m a bling fan, so I love the gold and glittered!! xoxo
