Red, Green, and Navy Christmas Home Tour Part 1

This is the postΒ when I’m supposed to lie to you.

Easy and budget friendly ideas that anyone can do! Red, Green & Navy Christmas Home Tour with simple ideas... via RainonaTinRoof.com

When I don’t tell you that I went with red, green, and navy Christmas decorations because they worked so well with the decor in the rest of my house.

When I’m supposed to act like I really cozy up in the adirondack chair outside….

When its 30 degrees out.

Of course I do, don’t you? Psssshhhh…

Easy and budget friendly ideas that anyone can do! Red, Green & Navy Christmas Home Tour with simple ideas... via RainonaTinRoof.com

And that I just leave Christmas presents on my porch.

For anyone to just walk by and grab.

And I’m not supposed to tell you about how I utterly failed at a new holiday wreath on multiple tries this year…

And that I finally opted to just put the never-failed-me-yet Santa tinsel wreath on the door.

I’m also supposed to pretend that my entryway table is always that clean.

And that the bowl of Sour Patch Kids actually stays that full for more than a day.

Raffle Ticket Christmas Card Holder

And that all the toys are always put away.

Yes, I’m aware the camel is on top of the manger. Apparently, the kid feels a camel should have proclaimed Baby Jesus’ birth instead of an angel. Who am I to judge?

And I’ll pretend that I didn’t just move all those gifts from the outside to the entry table to the chalkboard wall. I totally just have that many laying around.

I also won’t admit to the fact that I am totally making my gifts double as decor all around the house.

Elf & Poinsettia DIY Christmas Wreath

I totallyΒ just draped this wreath over the kitchen window very nonchalantly. Its not like it took me days to figure out a place for it and then 30 minutes to tie the ribbon just right.

Easy and budget friendly ideas that anyone can do! Red, Green & Navy Christmas Home Tour with simple ideas... via RainonaTinRoof.com

And I’ll also not tell you about crawling up on the kitchen islandΒ just to get the perfect angle for the photo of the open shelves.

And I also won’t tell you that this deer looks almost exactly the same as it did in last year’s Christmas tour.

That may or may not even be the exact same drawings around it. Surely, I’ve changed it in a year……

But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?

And that is exactly what I learned from this holiday’s decorating – do what works (even if its the same as last year), make it simple, and don’t over analyze yourself.

Ha! Well at least you have put up the decorations for last year. I’m still working on that. Decorated the tree yesterday, which was a major win. Also, I’m impressed the sour patch kids made it all the way to a bowl instead of just being eaten straight from the bag. πŸ˜‰ Love your Christmas home, Jenna! And you put those gifts to work – they are beautiful!

Thanks, Alexis! Ummmm, the sour patch kids only made it to the bowl for photo ops. I seriously annihilated them while taking said photos. Luckily, they only had to make an appearance in two photos.

My kids keep asking me when I’ll be removing the fake presents from under our tree (a.k.a. their books and boardgames that I stole from their playroom in order to have pretty wrapped presents for the home tour). Love your hilarious honesty, Jenna! Thanks for keepin’ it real. πŸ™‚

You are funny! But what you wrote is the absolute truth, and those of us drooling over the wonderful homes on this 2014 tour know that you each worked really hard to make your homes perfect and strived to prevent family members from messing up a vignette until you could take a photo. And we appreciate it. πŸ™‚ I’ve been on about 8 virtual tours so far today, and it seems that a well decorated home requires the following: Antlers. Lanterns. A chalk board (or two). Rubber boots in the entryway (even if your home does not have an actual entryway). Meaningful or clever words written on repurposed wood. And oh, almost forgot. A fancied up drink cart (for cocoa or coffee or booze). I wonder which one I am going to make first. LOL.

Love this! So beautiful and colorful! Mind if I ask what color/type paint you used on your green door and the blue adirondack chair? I’ve been wanting to paint my front door and these 2 colors are lovely! I’d have to choose between them, of course. πŸ˜‰
    Thanks!

Hi Cathi! The green door is Emerald (I think) by Behr and the adirondack chairs are Nocturnal Sea – by Behr I think. I hope that helps. I know both colors came from Home Depot. Green and navy are my two favorite colors – love them! Your door will look fab with either one!

I’m a couple of years late to the party, but better late than a “no show”. I love your blog. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who takes forever to figure out where to put things, moves them around a bunch of times, and then uses them in other photos to make them more interesting. Your humor and candor also make the whole decorating process more fun and enjoyable.

    Love the great ideas, too!

    Thank you!
