Yes, you read that title right – it is a brand spanking new Freak Show Friday!
This series kind of went on hiatus during the summer so I could spend more time with the Circus, but she started back to preschool this week, so Freak Show Friday is back! I won’t guarantee one every Friday, but I’ll do my best to have at least two a month.
As you know, we have been working at the farmhouse and on the farm quite a bit this past summer. Grunt Labor, who no one would have ever pegged as a future farmer, now dons his Carhartt overalls and work boots more than his Polos.
Trust me, no one is more shocked than me. This guy was city through and through when I met him. He’s still city, but now he’s also all about cornfields.
And country music.
New country music.
Let me just say, I like some new country music. Eric Church, Miranda Lambert and I can burn through a six-pack in no time, but my heart will always belong with the country of the 80’s and 90’s. Needless to say, I’m not sure how I feel about Grunt’s newfound love of new country music.
He is also trying to use his newly learned farming skills in the city…
I have to say though, it’d only take one time for a little city kid to try and climb that fence and he certainly wouldn’t attempt it again.
I ran into a thrift store back home without Grunt one day. I made sure to tell him what he’d missed though…
Sure enough. Right there in the store.
Within the past few months, some family friends have moved into one of the houses on the farm. Of course, we were using the deep freeze for storage.
Did you know that if you freeze a cowhide right after it’s taken off that it’ll keep until you have time to tan it? We didn’t know that either, but by God, we’re trying it.
I lived in my hometown for 25 years and never once was I able to sum it up better than Grunt Labor did one Sunday morning driving through…
Truer words were never spoken.
Happy Freak Show Friday.
I hope you have a freakin’ great weekend.
