It’s been awhile, but if you took the farmhouse Christmas tour, then you may have noticed that there were a few changes/updates to the living room there. Usually just about the time I declare a room “done”, it turns out that I either add, takeaway or switch something up. #storyofmylife
These little changes though really brought the room together even more.
Here’s what happened…
Rug / Sofa (similar) / Ottoman / TV Stand / Botanical Prints / Tufted Wing Chairs
The art I had gotten for our master bedroom ended up not working at all in there. The colors just did not mesh well with the other colors in the space. Luckily though, it did work well in the living room, so I started a game of musical art.
Sofa (similar) / Wheat Pillow / Navy Patterned Pillow / Art Above Sofa
I moved two of the botanical prints that had been above the sofa to above the television and hung the piece of art that was originally for our master above the sofa. It actually ended up being a much better scale for that area anyways!
And the botanical prints took up the perfect amount of blank space above the television.
TV Stand / Botanical Prints / Rug / Tufted Wing Chairs / Red Pillow
I felt like the television area still needed a little something though. I had held onto the plugin wall sconces from our last home’s living room ever since we moved because I loved them so much. And as it turned out, those fit perfectly on either side of the tv.
There’s one other small addition to this area. Our DISH Hopper and Amazon Alexa. Easily control TV with your voice…
Our DISH Hopper DVR got a new buddy – an Amazon Alexa. Do you have one? Have you heard of them? Let me just go on and tell you that our family considers it the cat’s meow when it’s paired with our DISH Hopper. I didn’t think the DISH Hopper could get much better since it already lets us record up to 16 channels at once, has Netflix built in and lets you easily skip commercials, but pairing it with Amazon Alexa is icing on the cake.
The DISH Hopper + Amazon Alexa union provides you with Hands-Free TV™ viewing. You can tell Alexa to turn to a show or channel you want to watch, to search for certain movies, actors, or actresses and to even pause, fast forward, rewind and more – all with just the sound of your voice.
I’m pretty sure as soon as it hears the Circus say “Alexa…,” it starts searching for Tom and Jerry, the Circus’ newfound current favorite cartoon.
For a limited time and while supplies last, DISH is offering new customers a Free Hopper DVR and Voice Remote. That means you can really maximize your lazy days by simply hitting a button on the remote and telling your Hopper what to show you instead of searching through hundreds of channels.

The one last small change I made in here was on the opposite side of the room with this little nook.
Linen Arm Chair / Spindle Table / Horse Head Bookends / Lamp
I forgot I had this pillow that was my great aunt’s until I was going through storage cabinets one day and found it. I’ve always loved the colors on it, but never had a perfect place for it.
I was tickled pink when it fit in so well with that chair and the rest of the living room space.

Looking great! I remember the day when I had to actually get off the couch to go change the channel on the TV…when we had THREE channels to choose from! Now you don’t even have to hunt for the lost remote!!
Jenna says
hahaha!! We had one of those televisions growing up too – had to get up to turn the channel well into my middle school years!
Karen says
I love the living room. I’m crushing big time on the plant in the corner by the entertainment center. Will you please tell me what it is? And, is it real or faux?
Jenna says
Thanks, Karen! It is real and it’s a Fiddle Leaf Fig!
Julie says
Love the room and especially those traces of red – because I love red.
Jenna says
Thanks, Julie! I love red too and have been thinking I need to incorporate it more somewhere!
Kari Wagner Hoban says
I love your style. It is so pretty, casual, funky and looks like someone lives there.
I swear that was a compliment.
Random- did you read about how Alexa’s are laughing randomly in the middle of the night or not when even being provoked??? That would make me poop my pants. Also, Ella uses ours to answer math homework.
Jenna says
Yes! I heard about Alexas doing that! I would probably run and hide under the covers if she does it to me! haha!
Linda says
You always make me smile!
Jenna says
Happy to do so, Linda! 🙂 Thanks!
Patty says
Jenna, I love love love your living room, it really came together so well and love the furniture you used in there, it looks so comfy. The little nook is beautiful and I agree that pillow is perfect. Is that needle work on the pillow and if so did your aunt do the needle work? It really is beautiful and just perfect in that gorgeous chair. Great job Jenna.
Jenna says
Thanks, Patty! Yes! It is needlework and she did do it! Years ago when she was moving from her house to assisted living, she had tossed the pillow into a box for donating and I was like, “No! I must have that!”
Patty says
That pillow is a real keeper, something special made by your Aunt. I still have a babydoll quilt my aunt made for me when I was 5 years old then, and it looks as good as the day she made it,
Jenna says
It is for sure – just like your quilt! I love things like that with so much history!
Stephanie S. says
Ok tickle pink is not something so would think come out of you. LOL The room is awesome. Has come out so well. Does the Circus still her red room?
Jenna says
Thanks! She does still have her red room, but the other day she asked about painting it a different color…we’ll see what happens.

It’s such a restful room. I really enjoyed my stay in your living room. I like the plant in the corner. Tall and lush. Yes I have an echo like that. I can’t make her pair with my prime TV though
Jenna says
Thank you, Anna! We enjoy the space!
