Simple Bunny Vases for Easter

If we’re being honest – and we’re always honest around here – my Valentine’s Day wreath just came off my front door three days ago. The Circus proclaimed that “The Easter Bunny will be at the mall soon, Mama. It’s not Valentine’s anymore.”

Thanks for reminding me how on top of my game I am, kid. 

She went on to say it was time to decorate for Easter. So we got out our Easter decor and suddenly something came over me and I found myself in the Easter spirit, plotting out cute little DIY bunny vases…

After making these simple bunny vases and filling them with flowers, I think it’s safe to say the LaFevor household is officially ready for Easter, per the Circus. Here’s how we made these cute little vases – they’re really simple and a great way to dress up your Easter table with hardly any effort.

Materials & Supplies Needed:

• Astrobrights Papers (I used Astrobrights Papers in Fireball Fuchsia, Lunar Blue and Venus Violet)
• Scissors
• Bunny Template
• Mod Podge (We used a satin sheen.)
• Foam Brush
• Vases (We used these mason jars.)
• Small Pom-Poms

*I ended up not using the glitter as shown in the image above in favor of the small pom-poms.

Step 1:

First, you’ll need a bunny template. If you do a quick search on Google, you can easily find loads of different styles of bunnies you can print out and size up or down to your liking. You can print those out, then trace it onto your paper and cut out or you could even print them right onto your Astrobrights paper and then cut them out.  I wanted to make these vases a touch more personal though, so I got my Artist-In-Residence to sketch out a bunny drawing for me.

Bill sketched it right onto the Astrobrights paper, then I cut it out, traced it multiple times onto all the different colors of paper we were using, then cut those out.

I let the Circus choose what colors. Of course, blue was the #1 choice (Lunar Blue, specifically) and she was ok with purple and pink to coordinate with it (Venus Violet and Fireball Fuchsia). Astrobrights Papers are a really vibrant line of colored papers and seeing as how we always do things colorful and vibrant around here, these papers worked perfectly for our project.

Step 2:

After cutting out your bunnies, use the foam brush and apply Mod-Podge to your vase, then carefully place the bunny onto the vase and cover him with another coat of Mod-Podge.

You can do however many bunnies you like or that will fit on your vase, I opted to do three on each of ours.

Place a small pom-pom on the bunny right where the tail would be. If you don’t have pom-poms on hand, you could always use glitter. That’s what I was going to do initially, but decided the pom-pom would be more fun.

Let the vases fully dry, then fill them with flowers.

In the Circus’ words, “Mama these work perfectly for Easter.” Seriously. I couldn’t make that up if I tried.
