Master Bedroom Sitting Area Makeover

*This post is in partnership with Hayneedle, however all opinions and references to Hildi from Trading Spaces are 100% mine. This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

You guys remember Trading Spaces, right? That TLC show from back in the day where you switched houses with your neighbors for a weekend and redid one room in their house in 48 hours? There was also that crazy lady, Hildi, who once glued fake flowers on a homeowner’s wall?

Ok, maybe I shouldn’t make fun of Hildi, I did upholster a wall with carpet……

Anywho, a few weekends back I totally felt like Grunt Labor and I were on an episode of Trading Spaces. Except we were making over the sitting area in our own master bedroom. And really, I wasn’t on a 48 hour timeline, it just kind of happened that way. Cheap beer does wonders when you’re really wanting to get something done. 😉

In that one weekend, we made our sitting area look like this…

Chairs & Ottomans / Rug / Lamp / Mirror / Wallpaper / Mid-Century Side Table

Wall Art / TV Cabinet / Drawer Pulls / Cabinet Knobs / Beverage Center

Nope, not pulling your leg.

When we first bought the house, the wall with the cabinetry looked like this:

Master Bedroom Sitting Area Before

Now, that half-wall had become a full wall when we built the closet, so don’t go thinking we pulled that off in a weekend. We’re smooth, but not that smooth. It was just a single wall when we started our makeover weekend.

The opposite side where the chairs are looked like this…

Master Bedroom Sitting Area Before & After

Now, that is a Trading Spaces worthy makeover if I ever saw one, no?

Mirror / Wallpaper / Chair / Tray / Side Table

Grunt Labor had a huge hand in this project. Since most of our master bedroom, the actual bedroom part, is pink, I really wanted him to have more of a masculine space in the room. He came up with the color scheme and gave his stamp of approval on every piece. I have to say though, I don’t care if it is a touch on the masculine side, I am crazy over how it turned out!

I’m over on the Hayneedle blog today spilling all the details on this space. Read about the makeover here. You can also view the style board here which contains every thing I used in the space and then some. And yes, that is glorious reptile patterned wallpaper. The angels started singing as I was putting it up. Ok, I’m a bit over-dramatic.

Had totally forgotten about Trading Spaces!…used to watch that religiously!! Best horror show on TV at the time ~ LOL! Y’all did a terrific job! Please tell me how you did the walls~ I did look at the Hayneedle, but for whatever reason, the text only very barely shows up on my monitor 🙁 Just when I think you’ve done it all…BAM!! another beautiful space 🙂

hahahahahahha!!!! Your description of the show is priceless, Pam! So all of the walls except one are painted. The paint color is Cool Ashes by Behr. The wall behind the chairs is actually wallpaper that has a reptile pattern on it. It’s here: http://www.hayneedle.com/product/yorkwallcoveringswallpapherprimalprepastedwallpaper.cfm That wallpaper is one of my favorite things!

Awesome job on the cozy nook!!! I want to curl up in the chair with my ereader or some hand sewing! The colors are amazing and that wall paper is crazy-cool!!! Those chairs…I want them!!! I wish my husband had just a little of Grunt Labor’s design sense…sigh.
