I am over the moon thrilled that you guys liked the first official fashion post here a couple weeks ago. There was a bit of hesitation hitting that publish button, because like my home style, my fashion is sometimes edgy and different, but that’s what we’re all about here, right? Flying that freak flag.
I don’t know where you are, but spring here in the Tennessee Valley can mean a variety of things – within the past three weeks or so, we’ve seen temperatures ranging from freezing to near 80 and everything from rain, a little snow and pure sunshine.
So in terms of clothing, you often don’t know exactly what to wear. I have literally left the house in sweats one day to drop off the kid and the next day when I head out in sweats again, I’m burning up before I pull out of the driveway. In terms of attire besides sweats, I like to do light layers during this time of the year.
Spring Casual Chic Looks
These spring looks are mostly casual, but also chic when paired with the right accessories.

This first one is one of my favorites – even if my friend Brittany says these boots look like hooker boots. 😉
I was pretty sure hooker boots were ones that came up above your knee, like Julia’s in Pretty Woman. But what do I know?
I’m not one to put my boots up at springtime. No, no, no. I will rock those babies as much as I can. These boots are actually from Target. You can’t see it in the photo above, but they have a fantastic little gold detail on the heel. The red was love at first site, but the gold detail was icing on the cake. If you like them, get them fast though! They are currently on clearance for less than $30!
When I first got the boots, I actually had no idea what I would wear them with. When I pulled out this pink shirt, I thought hmm, not sure if that pink will go with the red, but I tried it anyway and loved the look. That pink 3/4 sleeve shirt has quickly become one of my go-to shirts. It has a small zipper in the front and you can actually unroll the sleeves to make it totally long sleeves if you want. It also comes in other colors (green, blue, black and white, I just bought the black and white one!) and all are currently on sale for $35. And did I mention it’s super comfortable? You can leave it untucked if you want, like in the first picture or partially tuck it in like above. I usually partially tuck it in to show off whatever belt I’m wearing, in this case my favorite Leopard Print Belt. My red clutch brought it all together.
If it’s going to be a little chilly, then I throw my brown leather jacket on. Grunt Labor got me this jacket for Christmas and I can’t begin to tell you how much I love it. I’ve always been a fan of a good black leather jacket, but it seems like a brown one is often times a little more casual. Unfortunately, this one is no longer for sale, but there are very similar ones here and here.
Another go-to shirt for me is this green zip-up tank. It is comfy and also comes in lots of colors you can see here. This shirt is on sale right now for less than $30, so I just bought another one in red! Pairing the green shirt with the mustard pants adds a little more color to the ensemble than just your regular jeans.
In springtime, and summer for that matter, you can never go wrong with gingham. Pairing a bright gingham shirt with a pair of jeans, a good leopard flat and pretty jewelry is an effortless, but winning combination. My pink gingham shirt came from Banana Republic about two or three years ago, but unfortunately they aren’t selling them anymore. This one is similar and honestly, I think I like it a little better because it doesn’t look so fitted. I like to carry my leopard clutch with this outfit to make it a little less preppy-country and give it a bit more chic look. You can find similar leopard clutches here, here and here. The leopard flats are usually my go-to for this outfit as well – similar ones here and here.
I am usually a popped collar kind of girl when it comes to button down shirts. I like to wear a shiny necklace to glam up the shirt a bit too. You can find a similar necklace like I’m wearing here.
And we don’t tuck our cowboy boots away during spring here either. 😉
If it gets too warm, you can take the jacket off and you’ll still have a simple, but cute outfit kicked up a few notches by the boots. 😉
