First off, I hope you and your families had an amazing, amazing Christmas. We probably had the best Christmas to date around here. 🙂
Now, I won’t lie.
It. Was. Stellar.
Things happened this year that made my jaw drop, tears come to my eyes, left me in awe, and had me running for the cheap beer drawer.
I hope it was the same for you.
Of course, one of those moments was when Better Homes & Gardens featured our kitchen in their magazine. That was, even though its a total cliche, a dream come true.
And as amazing as that was, there were more times that were better than that.
More times that were so much more special than that.
I finally told you my story and was floored by your sweet, sweet comments.
For the first time since the kid was born, Grunt Labor and I took a week long Booze & No Baby Trip to Cancun (that’s when we rode Pancho – the picture on our Christmas cards).
I evaluated myself, came up with a list of things wrong with me and then decided to embrace every single one.
You should do the same.
I started slathering on sunscreen.
We went to the beach and the kid made her love of the ocean even more apparent than the year before.
Garters were stripped off with teeth and new babies were born.
I got to decorate a Grammy themed Christmas tree for the Make-A-Wish Program.
We were able to give the kid and boys what they really wanted for Christmas.
Grunt Labor and I jetted off to New Orleans (my favorite city. in the history of ever.) the weekend before Christmas and I got to go in a former whorehouse. (I’m sure many of you just rolled your eyes or started praying for me. That stuff just fascinates me – I know, I’m a freak. Story on it coming soon.)
And this Christmas. Well, this Christmas was just amazing, y’all. Watching the kid’s eyes light up on Christmas morning, and finally starting to understand what its all about, well it just doesn’t get better than that.
It was apparently the Christmas of horses as well – there are now two, new, very large, stuffed horses invading our home.
And Friday night, for the first time ever, the kid curled up in my lap and actually wanted me to rock and sing her to sleep
We sang Summer of ’69 and Fancy.
Oh, did you expect lullabies?
I’m not your girl for that, honey.
All those things.
They are the best of 2014.
Those are the things going on our memory rocks.
Not some DIY lucite tray or room makeover.
And I hope you have just as many or more amazing moments from the year.
However, since this is technically a home decorating, DIY and crafts blog, here are the best and the worst projects from 2014.
What You Loved:
(in no particular order…)
A girl needs to be able to make a half-naked mad dash without worrying about being spotted by her neighbors. There were other reasons as well…
Yep, its pretty much one of my favorite things. That’s where they will lay me out when I die.
Seriously y’all, I mean anyone. And any budget – ain’t nobody got time for bedrooms costing thousands of dollars.
Oh, and did I mention it will only set you back $5 instead the of the $30 retail version?
Apparently, you guys are really fascinated with the filth surrounding my house…
Full tour #2 of our beloved foreclosure..
Because really, who wants to wax the hard way?
So easy, you’ll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner…
Because you should learn from my mistakes…
For all the incredibly indecisive people out there…like me.
Shockingly, it works.
And since we all have huge fails sometimes, here’s what was the least popular of 2014.
What You Hated:
I thought it was cute…and really simple. Not so much.
Kid’s parties aren’t your thing. I get it.
I have to disagree on this one – I loved it. And still do.
I’ll give you this one – definitely not my best work. It was a Trash to Treasure project and I was short on time. Go figure.
Y’all, if that doesn’t say Jackie, I don’t know what does.
And just in case you wanted to remember the ultimate fails…
Here’s to 2015!
Wait! There’s more!
