I just had to comment about shiplap. Although most people had never heard of it before Joanna introduced them to it (I thought I was one of those people) however, while looking at decorating books that predate Fixer Upper, I discovered it’s been around a long time! It’s been used in classic traditional homes, coastal homes, cottage homes as well as Farmhouse homes. It seems like a trend- like leopard print- but in fact it is a classic that never goes out of style. Does it belong in every home? I’d say definitely not, but it can look good and be a good choice for lots of people.
I do love your fearless style. It’s unique and brave and groovy all rolled up into one!

Hey Lynne! You’re right, it has been around long before Joanna Gaines brought it to the limelight! I’m all about embracing what you love. So, if a person loves shiplap, go for it! Personally, it’s not for me. I’m just seeing it used SO much right now, I’m worried people are going to get pretty tired of their house looking like everyone else’s soon.

Is it necessary to seal kitchen cabinets after you paint them?

No. Especially if you use an oil based paint or another paint that is primarily for high use surfaces like cabinets.
