I think we’ve covered gift ideas for just about every kind of person this year, except kiddos. I usually don’t do gift guides for kids because each kid is so different about what they like at different ages. Since the Circus is a big part of this blog though and is the reason for many of crazy stories around here, I thought it would be fun to let you in on what she is getting for Christmas this year.
We are parents who do believe in doing lots of different types of gifts for Christmas. We do toys, books, clothes, experiences and more. I know some people go with just the three things for kid’s gifts at the holidays (I think it’s something to read, something to wear and something they want), but we do more than that just because it is Christmas and it only happens once a year. And they are only little once. There is only so long that you are going to get to see that face light up on Christmas morning when they see what Santa has brought them.
This is a mix of what Grunt and I are giving her and what I heard Santa may be bringing. 😉

iPod + Bluetooth Speaker
Let’s start with my favorite! I am so excited to give her this gift y’all, I can barely contain myself! While the Circus may have gotten some of my not so great qualities, one good quality I’m glad she got of mine is a love of music. This kid loves music. And she loves every kind of music. Of course, she loves a good song from a Disney movie, but she is also a big ABBA fan, any song from Grease 1 or Grease 2, Dolly Parton and countless other ones. To further that love of music, we are getting her an iPod! I’m going to load up the iPod with some of her favorites before we give it to her. We also got her a bluetooth speaker to listen to her music from. The little fan thing plugs into the bottom of an iPod or iPhone and provides a cool little breeze. She has seen these at several stores and thinks they are the coolest.
I had never heard of these things until the Circus went crazy over one when she saw a little girl with one at a yard sale. They really aren’t that expensive at all, and even though I’m sure she’ll be over it a few weeks after Christmas, she’s getting this Chubby Puppy set.
The Circus has been talking about rodeos for a few months now. I’m not sure what peaked her curiosity about them, but she has been asking to go for a while now. When we heard one was coming to Nashville, we jumped on tickets. These aren’t necessarily part of her Christmas as we would have taken her anyway, but we figured why not throw ’em under the tree too?
We always get a few books for the Circus at Christmas. This year, we went with a few “interactive” type books – Dino-Mite since she loves dinosaurs, Color Me Powerful for some girl power coloring, A Walk on the Beach Field Guide for when we go to the beach in the spring and summer and the Super Hero Cookbook as she’s been really into helping me cook here lately. We are also getting her The Big Book of Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman is her favorite superhero. Last year, we got her The Big Book of Girl Power which was about all the superhero girls and she loved it. I’m sure she will love diving more into Wonder Woman.
Last year we got the Circus a microphone and it ended up being not so great. It worked well for a few months, but then just started going in and out. This one though has really good reviews, is wireless and will connect to her Bluetooth iPod, so I’ve got high hopes for it.
A classic, right? I loved this game as a kid! I found one at Ross for $3, so as Mama would say, “I couldn’t leave it behind for that price.”
Belle Gloves Set
This isn’t the exact set we bought for the Circus, but very similar. She found a pair of Belle gloves that she fell in love with while we were at Disney World in October and I snuck out and bought them for her as a Christmas gift one day.
This one is going in her stocking. She has been on a gift card kick lately and has loved it when her Aunt Sherry has sent her a little Wal-Mart gift card in the mail to do a little shopping with. She’s also quite fond of Tractor Supply and Stockdale’s gift cards. I know, right? What a kid. We got her this personalized unicorn wallet and are going to put an iTunes gift card, a Stockdale’s gift card and one other gift card that is yet to be determined in there.
Super Hero Girls Watch
She spotted this watch at Target the other day and immediately said she was adding it to her Christmas list. It’s another one that will probably end up in the stocking.
What are you giving to kiddos on your list this year?
