I couldn’t part with it.
I knew it didn’t work well in the entryway, but I couldn’t let it go.
The table was the first piece of furniture Grunt Labor and I bought together.
So instead of getting rid of it, I moved it.
That was the first small decorating change that had a big impact. And then a snowball effect ensued of lots of small decorating changes with big impact.
I heart snowball effects…in this case anyway.
Small Decorating Changes with Big Impact
1. Move your furniture around.
That’s exactly what I did with our entryway table.
It never really felt right in our old entryway. I don’t know what it was, but something just wasn’t vibing with it there. When I found the art prints and bench that prompted an entire entryway makeover, I moved the table between the two chairs in our living room.
I was shocked at just how well it worked there.
But I’ll act like it was part of my genius plot all along..
2. Get a set of matching lamps.
Its no secret that I love me some lamps. That can be proven just by looking at my top lamp picks (which I want all of and already own at least two of them) or my post on lamp makeovers or the countless other lamp projects around here. Did you notice that the table is sporting a set of matching lamps?
I picked up two of these Caribbean coral lamps from Kirkland’s and they are the perfect accent to the space.
3. Move Your Pillows Around
When I was almost done with the unintentional entryway makeover, I realized I needed some pillows to top off my new bench.
I moved two pillows I had in the guest bedroom into the entryway. They looked much better there than they did in the guest room, plus more people see their prettiness there. Win. Win.
4. Edit, edit, and then edit some more!
I’m over the clutter y’all.
Instead of all these elaborately accessorized spaces, I want cleaner, more open spaces.
When I moved the entryway table into the living room, I also edited everything that was on the bottom shelf. By edited, I mean I essentially got rid of everything that was there and opted to replace it all with only a few books and a brass duck.
And I like it.
5. I like big trays and I cannot lie.
You other sisters can’t deny, when you see a big tray corralling all those things, you know it makes you wanna sing.
You didn’t know I had stellar rap skillz, did you?
My latest big tray find is this giraffe tray.
I placed it between the two lamps on the table and used it to corral a couple books, the remotes and other knick knacks.
And let me say, we haven’t lost the remote once since we put them in the tray.
Yep. Go us.
