Disclosure: ClosetMaid provided me a closet kit to review. All opinions are 100% mine.
In my mind, I have a closet that looks like this:
Its a walk-in, its bright, it has plenty of storage and room to grow.
In reality, I had this:
All that can be called is one hot mess.
And not even all of my clothes were in there.
Needless to say, we needed a closet intervention.
And ClosetMaid volunteered.
Now, we have this:
Just so you get the full effect of the before and after, here’s a side by side:
Feel free to gawk as much as you want. The new system has been installed for a couple weeks now and I still gawk every time I open the doors.
First off, I can’t tell you how happy I was to get rid of that over-the-door shoe rack.
The over-the-door number fell off at least half the time I went to open the door. It was such a pain.
Now, we have ample shoe storage for both mine and Grunt’s shoes on the shoe organizer. We actually stacked two organizers on top of each other to get a total of six shelves for shoes.
We still needed more shoe storage though (Grunt Labor really loves him some tennis shoes), so we used some of the center unit shelves on the narrow closet kit for shoes as well.
We opted to add three drawer kits to our unit for more hidden storage.
They hold my belts, scarves, and flip-flops (because a girl has to have herself lots of flip-flops for summer.)
I will say I was a little unsure of this walnut finish at first, but I really loved it once I saw it in person. Not too dark, not too light – just right.
The very top shelf gives more storage for my handbags and sweaters.
And there is another shelf just under all of Grunt’s shirts where I put painting clothes and such.
Guys, this closet actually makes me want to put my clothes away now.
You see, I’m the girl who throws all her clothes on the chair when she changes.
And at the end of the week, there is a large pile that Grunt forces me to go through so he can do the laundry (yes, he does the laundry! I know, I totally won the husband lottery).
That pile is a lot smaller now though, because I actually like to put my clothes away because our closet is so pretty and I just like to look at it all I can. *insert 7th grade girl squeal here*
You know you don’t wanna miss any of this crazy.
