Livening Up Bedding Basics

The guest bedroom still isn’t completely done. I know, right? Its like 90% done. There is one more thing that has to get done, so in the meantime, let’s talk about the guest bedding.

Previously, the guest bed had white bedding. No pattern, no print, just white bedding.

There’s nothing wrong with white bedding at all. In fact, I love white bedding. Our master bedroom currently has white bedding. But, if you noticed in the posts about the faux wall moldings and the desk, the walls of the guest bedroom are white.

White walls + White Bedding = Too Much White.

I still didn’t want too much pattern on the bed though – the wall behind the bed is going to have a lot of pattern (you just haven’t seen it yet), so I didn’t want the bedding and wall to be on pattern overdose.

Livening Up Bedding Basics via RainonaTinRoof.com #wayfair #bedroom #bedding I found a basic black comforter at Wayfair for only $34. However, it had a little surprise on the other side – a fun leopard print.

Livening Up Bedding Basics via RainonaTinRoof.com #wayfair #bedroom #bedding I leave the comforter turned down a bit to see a hint of the leopard print and you can see a bit of it around the edges. And then to add a little more pattern and interest to the bed, I upholstered the box springs. This bed just doesn’t work for a bedskirt. It doesn’t lay right with the bed’s rails. I also spray painted the rails green. One rail was quite rusty and the rails just added a bit more color.

The pillows do most of the work in livening this comforter up.

Livening Up Bedding Basics via RainonaTinRoof.com #wayfair #bedroom #bedding I got two of these navy greek keys pillows. They come in a ridiculous amount of colors and now, I’m really wishing I would have went with pink. I already had the pink and black and white pillow to layer in.

Nice! love all the different colors and patterns (and the upholstered box spring….I’m so over bed skirts these days!). So did you paint the bed rail green? Am I seeing it right? because that’s genius!

Im loving the painted bed rails. I’ll have to do that in my daughters room. I just added a little pink in my living room and am loving the look. I like yours with the B&W pillow.

I love it! Simple tips with a lot of pop :) The pink pillow and box spring cover are my favorite pops. We have a bedskirt that doesn’t fit quite right because our footboard, and I’d never thought of upholstering the box springs! Great idea :)
